So i was just messing around in the game when i had an idea, i went to the controls settings and set the same button for dash and dash down+right/left, when i tried it it basically just croush dashed for me making it way easier for hypers, added down dash for waves and if you dont need extended hypers you can just add the jump button to the same hyper button. You can also put one for non-extended supers by having a button for dash left/right+jump basically making it automatic. If you don't believe i could show a video or why not just test it out yourself.
The reason i pointed this out is I haven't seen any people talk about it or use it, so have I just discovered a new trick or am i just dumb? Also this does NOT work for wallbounces i tried lol
gimmick binds like this can be rarely useful for certain input dense tricks, but generally it is recommended to just get used to "normal" actions, as this will give you much more granular control over the timing of each input. for example, you have 5 frames to get an extension on your hyper/super, and having control over when exactly that jump is inputted is vital for optimizing your movement, and many strats hinge on getting an early/late extension to make them work. by using a button like you described to get a jump immediately, you eliminate all of that control. it might not matter much to you right now, but as you get better, this would be a massive roadblock and you would have to change how you play the game. best to avoid that situation.
for an example where a gimmicky bind can be useful however, a dash+jump button is a common bind among high level runners, but it is almost never used to input an instant hyper/super, like you might think. it is more useful for jumping, and then ensuring a buffered dash out of that jump. for example to input 1 good ultra (jump for extended hyper -> buffer downdiagonal dash out of the hyper) where a strat demands it, or for walljumping off a moving block and dashing immediately after to get a double boost with consistent positioning.
