Big Update to Big Walk Speedrunning!
Veröffentlicht 9 days ago von

Hi all, after assessing the results of the first speedrunning poll to determine whether disconnects will be allowed or not, we have elected to split the leaderboards as the votes were almost exactly 50/50! In order to facilitate this, we are reorganizing the leaderboards and introducing a few changes.

Changes to the Leaderboard

  1. "Game Mode" Category has been removed.

Any run completed is now required to use the game mode that matches the player count (i.e. 3 Players must use the 3P Game Mode). If there is interest in running mismatched player counts and gamemodes, we may create a category extension.

  1. "Challenge Skipping" Category has been removed.

There hasn't been any huge outcry to run challenge skipping, and as such we will be removing it from the boards for now. It may return in future on category extensions if there is interest.

  1. Categories have now been split into Glitch Type first, then the ending obtained.

This makes the overall viewing experience of the leaderboards more cohesive, among other quality of life improvements for verifiers and submitters.

  1. The categories "S+Q" and "No S+Q" have been added.

Please use this to categorize whether your run used disconnects or not. All runs prior to this ruling will be classified as NO S+Q. If this leads to any mistakes please reach out. This has added a couple of new rules and changes to the autosplitter, which I will detail in a later post. For now, please read the rules of the S+Q category closely if you intend to run a category using disconnects.

  1. "Glitched" has been renamed to "No Sequence Breaks".

This should hopefully reduce any confusion caused by the naming scheme, as "Glitched" allows you to use glitches that do not skip over large portions of the game, and requires all keys to be unlocked (source requirement)

Timing Changes

Please read over them carefully if you intend to submit runs in the S+Q category. We will be pushing changes to the autosplitter to make this easier to time over the next few days. However, for the time being, feel free to submit runs and we will retime them manually. Hopefully, this will mean more people submitting their runs overall and we hope to see more people on the leaderboard as time goes by! Thanks everyone, and happy big walking!

In addition to all of this, we are officially introducing new timing rules.

These are officially:

Time starts on the first frame that the LAST player to join the lobby loads into the game. For a 4P run, this would be the fourth player. External communication is permitted for the first 30 seconds of a run to facilitate starting at the same time.

The new timing rules for S+Q categories is also as follows:

Save and Quit refers to the act of the HOST quitting the game to destroy the lobby and remake it, in order to warp everyone back to the spawn room.

Individual players are allowed to disconnect at any time, such as for Vision Skip. You may use disconnects to save walking time and warp back to the start area.

The HOST must be the first and only player to disconnect. Other players will then be removed from the lobby. Timing will pause while the lobby is closed, and will unpause when all players have rejoined the lobby.

In order to facilitate this, you may exclusively use external communication for coordination purposes.

Note that this is only if one or more players are unable to use the autosplitter. If all players are able to use the autosplitter, please only begin moving when the timer has automatically restarted.
