Why would you not always use outside communication for a speedrun? that seems like it'd make a lot of puzzles way faster.
the intended way to play the game is without any outside communication. the annotation allows those who would prefer to run while playing as intended to do so and attempt to figure out fast ways to communicate within the game. but yes, outside communication is faster
I think no outside communication makes the speedrun more interesting and fun. A lot of puzzles would be trivial with outside communication or screen-sharing.
My friend and I developed a new route for Big Goodbye Glitchless 2P where we split off after the start area and one person does solo puzzles while the other goes ahead and scouts the poses solutions, and does memory (i.e. Green Tower first). We then communicate and coordinate via a walkie-talkie and train to pick up the brown tower box and to get the poses solution to the other player. I think this route is really fun and lets the true spirit of the game come out. Outside communication would make it a lot less interesting.
Personally, me and Bush use outside communication just so we can talk to each other during the 90 minute run. Makes it less boring and more fun for us. I totally understand why people don't do it, however

In order to facilitate this, we are reorganizing the leaderboards and introducing a few change
