General FAQ

Q: I need help, and would like to talk to someone. Where can I do that? A: It would be best to join the discord (link on the sidebar) and ask for help there.

Q: What is a movie/input file? A: It's a tool on emulators that record your inputs. These inputs are saved to a file and can be shared easily with others. It can be replayed by you or anyone else through the same emulator.

Q: How do I record a movie/input file? How do I play it back to make sure it worked? A: ()

Q: I started an emulator recording and now all my saves are gone! A: Please be sure not to select "Record from: Power On" when recording a movie file. This will delete your SRAM, and your save files. If you have a savestate, you can reload that and it will restore the SRAM to the point of your savestate. If you need an SRAM file, reach out on the discord.

Q: How come X leaderboard is empty or doesn't show any speedruns? A: Simply because runs have not been submitted for that category.

Q: My run hasn't been verified yet. Why not? A: It may take some time for a run to be verified. Moderators and Verifiers do this on their free time, please be patient.

Q: How are you able to use any DSS combo when you don't have the cards? A: While activating any DSS combo you can pause the game and switch to any spot in the card menu. There is no check in the game to see if you actually have obtained the cards, so if you know the spell you want to use, and it's position in the menu, you can use it with any combo! We call this the DSS Glitch.

Q: I used the DSS Glitch and now my MP is empty and not filling up! A: You used a spell that required more MP than you actually have and have entered Negative Magic. Your MP will still refill, but starting from the negative. Tapping a save point will completely refill your MP immediately.

Q: What was that warping? How did you get out of bounds? A: By performing a summon spell with some of the Apollo or Uranus combinations, as you jump or fall into a horizontal load for another room, your character becomes displaced. This allows for many exploits and breaks within the game.

Q: Why are you sliding instead of running? A: During long horizontal sections, without hills, it is a little faster to slide than dash or run. An easy way to think of it is any length where you can slide 5 or more times in a row, it would be faster to slide than to dash.

Q: How come you are using Tackle so much? A: Without the Pluto+Griffin card combo, this is a faster way to move when you are approaching a ledge. If you Tackle at the correct time, as you're reaching the edge of a platform, the ending somersault is cancelled, and you gain a small amount of time. Sliding off ledges is faster than Tackle in some places.

Q: You flew in the air without the Roc Wing. A: ()

Q: What allows you to get extra height when you use the Roc Wing? A: After initiating the Roc Wing you can hold the Jump button to gain an extra boost in height at the end of your ascent. The extra height is not accumulative if you chain Roc Wings together, it will only apply on the very last one in the chain.

Q: Is it faster to run back and forth into a door? A: Nathan does not reach his his top speed immediately after being stationary; there is some acceleration before he reaches his top speed. By double backing through a door the intention is to start the next room at your top speed and skipping the acceleration portion of the dash. This does save a very minuscule amount of frames... I'll come back and retime this at some point for an exact answer.
