Hi everyone ! It's been a long time ! I hope somebody's still there ! I would like to ask you something about the IGT.
I recently wanted to re-run the game again. So I trained on chapters and came to the last one.
I looked video of WR. Which is 4:12 by RE_SNOW if no mistaken. The best I can do is 4:26. BUT... yeah BUT !
I did a run in 2015 which was... 4:32. So I had twenty seconds to gain somewhere.
So I compared the two runs. I downloaded the two of them and put'em on Premiere Pro so that I could synchronized them perfectly...
And I noticed something. In the very beginning of the chapter we're even. It's damn well synchronized. When opening the doors, I first was ahead by 1sec and out of the zone I got a 2sec loss compare to RE_SNOW... Still the same until the Volcano fight where I lost 2 more seconds in there. Only 2 secs.
So the total loss was 4 sec.
But still got 20sec loss in the IGT. I don't understand why, do you have any clues about it ? :)
Do you have any proof or footage of your 4:26 or 4:32 ?
If you didnt know if you skip cutscenes like the bulkheads opening then the in game timer will carry on and the door will take longer to open so its best to let the cutscenes roll out as the in game timer will be paused.
Hi ! I didn't expect a fast reply ! Thx to you ! :) Yeah I have a video of the 4:32, the 4:26 is on the PS4.
But yeah... I used to skip those cutscenes I didn't notice the doors took longer to open. And when comparing with RE_SNOW run, I skipped, he didn't and the doors opened at the same time. But I didn't know the IGT stopped during those cutscenes. So I'll try if it changes things.
Thanks :)
Yes there are some other cutscenes like that but those two in 6-3 are the most major time saving ones. Another example is near the start of 3-2 there is a cutscene of a bridge falling and it's the same with that one. We let that play on co-op because the player who cranks the raft will be there waiting on it either way so it saves IGT to let it fall in the cutscene. To be perfectly honest it's been a while since I've run this game so I can't recall if there are any other spots.
Since it sounds like you've been watching Snow's runs, just keep an eye out for if there are other cutscenes that he lets play and you can assume it's for that reason if so. Anyone can learn a lot from Snow, I know him pretty well personally and he has more experience with this game overall than any other speedrunner.
I see, I'm not really doing coop atm, so... :P But if I do I'll remember,
Yup, I watched Snow's and Trance's run. I learned a lot by watching them. I'll take a closer look and see what I can improve and maybe submit something good. I submitted a 4:12 run for chapter 6-3, and snow wrote it was possible to go down 4:10. It really depends few things... If the first majini next to the lever screw us up, it's dead. If Wesker does the wrong pattern at the beginning of the fight (like shooting us...) it's screwed as well. The rest depends just on the player skill and movement. ahah
Anyway, thanks a lot for your answers and have a good day. :)
Other cutscenes that are proven to save time are the ones from the elevator, at the end of 5-1. just like the bulkhead, if you skip the cutscene the elevator will take longer.
Just to be accurate though, it's not that the elevator or the bulkhead doors take longer to open; skipping or not skipping the cutscene doesn't change the time they take to open, what differs is that if you skip the cutscene the IGT will continue counting from the moment you do, instead if you don't skip the cutscene the IGT won't be counting during it. This to say that in a RTA category skipping or not skipping the cutscene doesn't make a difference.
