Hey y'all!

I recently caught some l4d2 runs on twitch and I thought it looked like quite a bit of fun. Since I'm more of an IL guy, I was wondering which campaign would be a good pick to start out in if you wanted to get acquainted with the movement and learn the basics of running the game.

Hello, YungWill. Finding the exact answer on your question сan be pretty hard, in my opinion. For movement training I'd recommend maps with more flat surfaces (like fairgrounds or highway). But each campaign has it's own difficulties. You can't be god in Carnival and be sure you can easily beat Hard Rain, so completing each one in good time requires thorough training every of them. And the more you play, the more different situations you experience and thus become better prepared for each outcome. I can only give recommendation about first campaign to begin with. Dark Carnival or Dead Center can be pretty fine options, but remember, to be good at speedruns, you should be good more casually, just nail each one casually and you are mostly prepared for speedruns.

I always like to recommend swamp fever cuz its got a bit of everything - learning events on map 1, a good line to learn bhopping down to the river, the stumble (on 2.0.0.0) the adrenaline/water management, the god spot that requires you to leave allies alive to TP back to.. Like its obviously not to say its the best to learn THE GAME but IMO it covers ALOT of the fundamentals in a very short span of time
