I have an idea where we could have a category where we can use pets and 40% mounts from the shared bank as they can be obtained without crowns since anyone can make pets with about any talents they want free to play via. hatchmaking.

I wonder if we can even take it a step further where any item (or equivalent) known to be obtainable free to play, maybe with requirement for proof via the wizard101 central wiki or the in-game thing on how to get a wanted item.

I wonder if we can create a speedrun sub-category for this?

Apologies for not responding sooner, speedurn.com is strange and I don't get notifications for these forum posts for whatever reason.

We prefer to keep things on an even playing field when it comes to these runs and since everyone gets a mount after unicorn way I don't see a point in allowing shared bank just for mounts; transferring things from shared bank would also make our lives harder having to look up the potential pets and items to make sure they can be obtained "F2P" and it's also not enough to make an entire sub-category for it. Also certain pets (aoe for example) would make boss fights WAY too easy and one of my favourite things about speedrunning this game is it isn't just mindless aoe hits from pets/max levels carries.

If we ever decide to have some kind of 'unrestricted' runs it would likely be for major dungeons in-game such as Darkmoor etc.

Technically any F2P player can also earn crowns from doing KI trivia so that could be another issue

To expand upon what Mal has said, the goal with the leaderboards currently is twofold: One is to have as low a barrier to entry as possible, i.e. be able to create a new wizard and start speedrunning. Anything that would delay this such as having to grind for certain pets, purchasing items, or other prep work goes against this. Two is to provide a public leaderboard for the categories that are the most in demand. Adding any categories/sub-categories is done only at the support and request of the active community. This does not stop anyone from doing runs that they find fun and posting them online, many wizard city challenge runs that exist are not on the leaderboards.

Another thing I would like to note is wizard101 central and other wikis is incomplete/incorrect which makes it hard to confirm the authenticity sometimes. Because of this, what dungeon runs would look like has made little progress on how we would properly police it/ensure that it is fair for runners.
