Random Map Runs

Well this great game also offers the options to play some sweet random maps, so I have created its own Leaderboard for Random Maps. Lets see which one will be the fastest :)

Game Settings: http://www.milktoastudios.com/img/warlord2_settings4.jpg Just set your random map to these options and then proceed like always.

Have fun

We changed to the game version 1.11 and now the random map options look like this:

One thing I'd like to discuss shortly: do we want to activate the option "Cities can produce allies"? It would add some more randomness. I don't really care if it's active or not. What's your opinion?

Is the # of cities random? That seems to be a problem. Re-run until you get a small # of cities and good starting RNG to win magnitudes faster...

Welcome xatrixx,

of course we can change the rules for that, it is a valid point you bring up here. When I did create these Rules/Category I just didnt want to dicate everything from the start, its better to talk with other people about what is best. You can join our discord for further discussion / or use this forum of course.

Can you help me joining the correct discord or contacting you? I'm not that well experienced with discord. Found my way there. sent you a message!

I found out that it's not THAT big of a problem. The randomness ranges from 70 to 100 cities in steps of 10, so only 4 possibilities: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 cities. It's not too much to ask to reset a few times until you get 70 I think. And maybe on a great layout you can manage 80 too. Only 5 more cities to capture to win than on 70, and a central position, good map layout and ally luck can easiely compensate that.

We can keep it all factors random!

Also keep in mind that while the number of cities may be different, the map has the same size. So the density of the cities is higher and the cities are closer to each other if there are more cities. It could potentially be faster to have more cities, because the units need less movement to reach the cities (well if your units don't die fighting).

You are right, it's not clear-cut. Anyways, all-random settings seem absolutely fine.

The savefile doesn't seem to be enough for, my game doesn't recognize it as a save. I guess the according RMAP#.dat file is needed for it to work.

jump on discord lets work this out. im uploading the file and adding it
