As we wait for the new map to be added as a level, I was thinking it might be a good idea to add a new category based on the uniqueness of the new map. In Ode to Castlevania, there is 30 (technically 31) bosses scattered across the map. I think it would be a good idea to add a category where the run is based around killing all 30 bosses. I think there is a lot of interesting ways it can go since you can fight all the bosses in any particular order and the new weapon that boosts damage each time a boss is killed.
I think this would be a fun category and I would love to hear your thoughts.
I personally think that is a great idea, though it actually is difficult to implement here on speedrun.com (for some reason, you can’t set level-specific categories), so we would need to make it a sub-category for another category which would make it seem very illogical to users (think Bosses% as a sub-category to Level 100).
This is also an issue I had with the new Friends% run (which was planned to be Polus Replica only), which is why we released it as a main category, which we can’t do for your suggestion because it is not possible to be completed on any other map.
If the idea is liked by the community, I could try to request a category extension board from the speedrun.com staff to house such special runs.
Also if you want to help us make the new maps and characters available here, please list them and any special things we‘d need to know.
I agree, an OtC All Bosses Speed Run would be very cool thing to try and optimize. The only issue is it will take a bit of grinding for players to unlock the entire map, but having just done so, I can definitely see the appeal.
I could see an interesting possibility space in different challenging versions like, where you have 1 weapon, no arcana, no eggs (which seems like a default here), specific characters, specific banishes. I feel like to make it the most accessible, it should focus on a small subset of characters, given how there are SO MANY to unlock/choose from in OtC.
Hello, Vampire hunters!
After many small chats with community members and requests through the forum posts I finally had the time to look into a set up adventures as a category.
They can be found with the full game runs where you can select the adventure and if you are opting to use the character
