I was gonna post this in the other thread but I'll post it here now this is open...

I am happy to help with the technical side of the marathon like I have done before (which includes making the layouts too, although if anyone wants to give me any ideas for the layout ideas they are free to do that) and if really needed I might be able to help out with the scheduling, but it's not my strong point and I'd rather not be doing both things so I can put more effort into the layouts/tech.

I'll fill in that form later today, as I'm happy to run some games/categories too but need to put together a list first!

The other idea people were mentioning about having the finale of the GTA3 tournament in the marathon sounds like a good idea too if both things can overlap easily.

Also you should add your notes to the Guides section if you feel they're good enough to share.

Hey guys, sorry for not noticing this thread sooner.

I have added TaktikalZef as a moderator and am about to add a 100% category. If you want to take a look at the rules I wrote and feel they need changing, feel free. I also added PS4/Linux as platforms now that the game is out on those too.

Obviously the idea of "100%" is a bit arbitrary seeing as some of the stuff you listed wasn't in the game on first release, but we can still treat that stuff as 100% for now because the community isn't too big. Obviously, if they decided to add even more stuff with other updates (which probably won't happen at this point?) we would need to discuss what to do then.

I'm also going to move Any% (NG+) and All Star Seeds into the misc. categories section to tidy up the leaderboard a bit now that we also have 100%.

EDIT: I just noticed in your first post you put "etc." at the end of that list. I have added the 100% rules with that list from your first post, but if there's anything else that needs to be done in the game, feel free to add it to the rules too. It's been a while since I have played the game so I'm not sure what else there is if anything.

EDIT 2: I see you added your own ruleset anyway. Well, carry on then. Kappa

I decided to make a load remover for the PC version of this game to make it easier to get your time without loads. I submitted a guide to the Guides section on this game to tell you how to set it up. (As of this post the LiveSplit website is down so you can't download the extra component in the guide right now, but the load remover works fine without it, it's just more convenient I feel.)

Right now it only works with the "RELOADED" No-CD EXE (seeing as the game is no longer available for purchase on Steam from what I know). If anyone wants to help me find the memory addresses for the Steam version, feel free. (Although it's probably easier for people to just use the same EXE that I made it for.)

I have only tested it myself but I assume it should work OK for other people, as long as you use the same EXE that I made it for.

If people want to see the code for the load remover, it's available here.

@uhTrance: for the other run that is currently on the leaderboards, you should probably find out the loadless time or just copy over the "time with loads" into the "time without loads" so that my terrible run doesn't have first place when it shouldn't.

I know a few people considered this type of category before and I even was gonna do it as a "jokey follower special" thing and even made a PasteBin, which I'm pretty sure is the same as what CyberThunder is putting forward: http://pastebin.com/G2G1Q6B0

I considered the name "All Story Missions" because they are all missions that add something to the storyline in some way.

I don't think duping to skip missions should be allowed but that's just my opinion of course.

I think at least 1 run should be done and we should see if anyone else is also interested in running it before it is added as a category on the leaderboards though.

So yes, sounds like a fine idea to me.

EDIT: @CyberThunder: I swear some other people did 100 tags ages ago, I guess they just didn't submit their times. Also, you have to do Driving School to unlock the "Wang Cars" missions, so that one will have to be done anyway. Which is why it is permanently on the map (if it actually is?).

I asked Dates in his chat and he agreed with choice A too, so I am going to change it.

I will leave this thread open in case anyone else wants to say anything, but I doubt it.

Norfolk, Englandzoton29 years ago

@Powdinet: But it's not like we all decided on that name just because we were trying to be "different" or anything; I'm guessing Nord came up with the name and then hardly anyone else has ran the category so no one ever cared enough. Funnily enough I'm wondering why this wasn't brought up sooner. I guess I never brought it up because of how much isn't actually needed for 100% (it's a lot less than the older games) so I thought the name was fine, but now I think about it, just calling it 100% would be fine too.

M_tt plz Kappa

I've unlocked the thread for now to see if anyone else does want to share their opinions.

I don't know who came up with the "100% (Rockstar)" name (although someone seems to have renamed it to "Rockstar 100%" now) but I'm fine with changing it because it fits with the other GTAs. It also fits with the other "true" 100% ideas that S. and others have been coming up with (100%+, 100%++, 100%+++).

If it's around 1-2pm in the UK then I'm fine with that too.

@Tyzerra: as long as we don't take too long getting in a cab and leaving, it sounds OK. Not sure how long it'll take us to get into the event and get to the speedrunning area, but as long as it's by 12:30pm I imagine we'll be good.

Norfolk, Englandzoton29 years ago

@Tyzerra: yeah that seems OK, as long as we don't have to wait too long for you! I'm not sure if I know what you look like or not, but I assume you know me or Mango so hopefully we can sort something out and find each other.

Me and Pessimistic_Mango are arriving at 11:21am on Friday (if the train doesn't get in late!) so if anyone is there around that time, we could get a taxi with you. We were planning on taking some buses up there but as Mango's run is at 12:43pm we might not get there in time if we did that. Flicky did say there was a possibility he could pick us up, but I'm not sure if that's going to happen.

Which PSP do you have, and do you have output cables for it?

I think the hardware setup should be similar to ESA and if so, PSP in that case should be fine.

If you don't have a cable and you own a 2000/3000 model, I have component cables for that I could bring if you needed.

Norfolk, Englandzoton29 years ago

OK, after posting this and getting people's feedback and such, me and Mango have decided to release the load remover.

I will change the leaderboards to accept times without loads and write a guide to set up your LiveSplit soon, although it's very easy: set your game to "The Simpsons: Hit & Run" in LiveSplit and below it click the "Activate" button to activate the load removal script. Your splits will record both RTA and time without loads.

Although we will have the time without loads on the leaderboard, we will still be organising by RTA for now.

@Kakarot: usually when a different EXE is used for a game, the memory addresses move. Right now we are supporting the no-CD EXE a lot of us seem to use, but we can support more in the future if needed; the LiveSplit devs have been adding the possibility of having more than 1 game version recently.

Norfolk, Englandzoton29 years ago

If anyone doesn't understand number 3, this is when you start a mission by talking to the correct NPC and it gives you the mission title and brief on the screen. For a small moment it will say "Loading" before it says "Continue", it's that loading that is counted.

Yeah I could probably do this too, pretty sure I'm free.

We could use our Mumble server instead of Skype if people wanted to as well.

I (finally) sent flicky my details via email, hopefully I'm not too late, would be nice to come to a UK event.

Norfolk, Englandzoton29 years ago

Limit the game to whatever the highest frame rate your monitor supports is. For most people that is 60. You're not going to see the rest so it doesn't really matter.

Norfolk, Englandzoton29 years ago

Isn't this the category?

http://www.speedrun.com/driver_1#Segmented

If so, it's listed under misc. categories (which you can see by clicking on "Show misc categories" on the game's page).

So there are mission failed skips in this game, which makes sense seeing as there are other similarities between it and GTA5.

I haven't played this game much myself so I loaded up whatever save I had and had "Women and Cattle" available so I tried it with that and you can see that below. Running from the disc so some of the loads might be a little longer than if you were to install the game.

You have to fail the mission 4 times (in comparison to GTA5's 3 times) to get the option to skip to the next checkpoint.

I would assume Undead Nightmare probably has them too, but I haven't tried it yet.
