Well you can play on emu directly off your original disc so it does not need to be "digital", so yeah we're back to square one.
Darazanjoll, according to your reasoning, the PSN version (which is literally an unmodified rip of the original discs) should be also compared to PS1/PS2 disc.
I like the changes so far. If PS3 or N64 ever become more active then sure showing it by default would be easy to do.
Regarding Hard Mode, I guess it could be better off as a difficulty variable instead of full categories, but anyways I feel this is something the actual Hard Mode runners need to thoroughly discuss.
PSP/Emu can co-exist in the same category like in the other REs, the difference in loading times (if there's any which I doubt) is small enough to allow this. I would encourage to use only 1 specific emu like in RE1 though.
Never seen a case like yours so I'm really sorry to not be able to help you out with this.
At this point it would be better to just allow the official PC version :)
At the moment we're fine but if the game becomes really active again and we need broader moderation I'll consider adding 1-2 more people.
I did not participate in the creation of the current "Collect%" category so I don't really understand if it's some sort of 100% or something else. In case you want to modify it, feel free to elaborate how a true 100% would be and I'll add it as a category eventually (and not hidden in misc)
I can change the name if you want lol
Collect% sounds really stupid tbh
Btw the run I verified yesterday follows the rules so I don't know what you mean @RaveTuba
Try reinstalling the game from scratch and make sure you check everything in the setup (that includes audio files and such)
Just gonna reopen this thread to clarify this:
It was me guys. I know it was not a good idea doing it without notice but I considered it was just a small change that would represent PS3 runs better tbh
It just doesn't feel right having PS3 compared to PS2/1 runs (and in the case of RE2, comparing it to PSP is just ridiculous lol), but welp, the version is kinda "useless" for speedrunning anyways so not going to discuss it further. It's fine as it is.
I also think that it could be accepted only for Barry skip in case that people wants this to happen.
Honestly I love everything that Sephjul discovered regarding glitches for this game (minus P42 glitch not gonna lie, fuck that shit), but I feel this is just a bad idea overall.
There's no reason at all to bring up that menu during a run so idk why is this even a thing tbh
Well it's on Sony's end because for PS3 they use a different emulator than on PSP, which is the fastest official emulator for PS1 games.
Yes, but you have the guarantee that is going to work the same for everybody. I just said that because it's easy and cheap to get (as long as you already have a PS3 of course).
Well all I can say is that 90% of the people that runs the PC version had no problems at all with the timer once they got the game working with the patch. Biosoft seems to be glitchy and unstable but I think most of the PC runners go with Biohard anyways.
But oh well, after all this is how PC games work and sadly for speedrunning is not ever going to be a 1:1 accurate scenario for every single runner, but hopefully at least the majority.
Believe it or not the most stable and accessible solution to play this game in an official manner is getting the PSN version (PS3 or PSP).
If you can't stack stuff with the unmodified game it means you can't use it in a speedrun. It's ok to use the modifier to get the NG+ items asap anyways.
Out of curiosity, I would want to see how faster any% could be done with the RL, but I don't think it's much of a difference in time.
BTW guys it's kinda obvious at this point BUT friendly reminder that IGT manipulation is NOT allowed (pausing, constant checkpoint reset for no good reason, etc etc)
