Welcome to the community, thebravest1! I wish you the best of luck on your runs! :) For emulators, it depends on the game you want to play. Some games allow emulators, but the majority don't allow them because emulators typically have a faster load time. And for the timer, most people use either LiveSplit or XSplit, and most of them set it up using OBS.

ElgatoHD, Roxio Game Capture, and AVerMedia (just to name a few). The best thing I recommend is searching on Google for them. Some capture cards will give you HD quality, but can lag your operating or gaming system, so it's best to know what your Wii/Wii U (as well as whatever you're recording it too) can handle. :)

The best thing I recommend is going into your OBS settings and adjusting your settings. It could be a few things. I recommend doing a bunch of "test" recordings/streams to decide which settings are best, and then go from there.

That...actually makes a lot of sense.

I'm thinking on getting GTA 5, Rocket League, and maybe a couple more visual novels or RPG's. xD
