I'm just learning the game at the moment, don't have a run to submit yet but would I be able to submit a run played on MiSTer FPGA using the Nuked-MD MegaDrive core?

MiSTer FPGA: https://mister-devel.github.io/MkDocs_MiSTer/

MegaDrive core: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/MegaDrive_MiSTer

Nuked-MD: https://github.com/nukeykt/Nuked-MD-FPGA

MiSTer is pretty widely accepted in NES, SNES, and Gameboy speedruns, I haven't seen it much for Genesis games (here's one though https://www.speedrun.com/shinobi3). I don't know if there's a reason or if it just hasn't been brought up.

This is the same FPGA technology at work in the Analogue Mega Sg (https://www.analogue.co/mega-sg), which is allowed in Sonic 3 (https://www.speedrun.com/s3k) and Crusader of Centy (https://www.speedrun.com/crusader_of_centy).

In case its relevant, there was a previous Genesis core for MiSTer (https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Genesis_MiSTer) that has been archived in favor of the one linked above, which boasts cycle accuracy.

Thanks for consideration.

Actually I realized my submitted run does that timing too...

I switched to hitting the start button so naturally switched to the other timing.

So yeah clarity please.

If the moderator just wants to make a call, thats fine by me. If we're weighing in opinions, I think that the start button is better as its easier to time consistently, its just not obvious that the start button still works from the options screen. So if we use that timing it would be worth noting that fact for newcomers in the rules text.

Hey, we don't have a start point specified in the rules but I'd like some clarity.

Most runners start by hitting the start button, and start time then.

However the current roadrunner WR holder starts the game by running off of the settings screen and starts time when the next screen pops up -- about a second after the other start time.

I have an unsubmitted run that ties the WR with the start time I've been using but is actually a second faster when you look at video comparison.

I think either option is a reasonable point to start the timer, I just want to know which one I should use.

For that matter, it would be nice to codify in the rules that time ends on last hit of boss and any difficulty setting is allowed. We had someone come into the discord a little confused about the difficulty.

Thanks.

Good find, this is exactly what I was hoping for.

Hey speedrun.com. The ads here are particularly annoying. I know I could just turn on an ad blocker but I'd like to support the site. I'd be happy to throw in some money for an ad free experience.

Thanks.
