if you still want to get 1.00, which is not optimal for any of the main 5 categories, once you obtained the beta on steam run the game once to update it to the beta, and then close it and go into the undertale directory.
unpack UNDERTALE.exe using 7zip or another zip unpacking program, extract the files from there and move them to a folder outside of the steam folder.
overflows on 1.001 and 1.00 behave the same, however they are both harder than overflows on linux 1.001. look in the resources section of the undertale leaderboard and in the patches section find the "1.001 Linux on Windows runner and installation instructions" that explain how you can get linux 1.001 on windows.
to overflow, you simply need to get to an object that you can interact with, and face it as usual. then get onto USE in the menu with the punch card. after that, simply press enter and then z the next frame, or z and then enter the next frame. (these are both acceptable and just as fast as each other since z and enter do the same thing).
this makes you open the text and the punch card at the same time, and then closing the punch card gives back movement with the text still up.
the reason you would want linux 1.001 is because on regular 1.001 or 1.00, you need to press either enter or z, let go of the key, and then press enter/z again on the next frame, whereas on linux 1.001 you just need to press enter/z and then press z/z again on the next frame. both are within the same time span of a frame but one is significantly harder. here is a tutorial by mrlink2k.
wrong warps are softlocking for you probably because of one of two reasons.
- you aren't holding against the wall whilst doing them. make sure to hold into an adjacent wall to the room exit while you do the wrong warp.
or 2. you aren't mashing away the punch card. when you perform the wrong warp, make sure to let go of your arrow keys and then close the punch card by pressing z or enter (it may help to either spam these 2 keys as fast as possible or time the closing of the punch card). if you did not do the previous step of holding into a wall, this will be frame perfect, so make sure to avoid that.
here is another tutorial by mrlink2k.
what do you mean? closing the game before the asgore fight doesn't skip asgore and flowey.
what's likely happening is that you have not probably reset your savefiles and are in new game+ or something similar. make sure to fully reset your game's save files (not by doing a true reset or a reset on the save file menu.)
if you do wish to play without fighting asgore or flowey, there is a "New Game+ Glitchless" category on the leaderboard, which this would be allowed in.
there are indeed more people that are going to be verifying runs not long from now.
you have to understand that there is not only this main undertale board, but also a category extensions and demo leaderboard too.
the queue has over 100 RUNS just for the main board, and it would take over 121 hours to watch them all. if you needed to verify even 10 i assure you, you wouldn't be complaining about verifiers not verifying yours.
the video also has 2 textboxes (sentences) for toriel, you have to be fast enough to close both.
there is no way to only get one. it's just a really hard trick.
i wouldn't recommend learning this trick at all unless you want to get a top 50 time.
the undertale speedrunning guide has a great section on this.
basically: equipping armour gives you +1500 points each unique armour equipped - and using a stick also gives like +700 points. if you get to 12,000 points, the battle ends.
on line 2 in the settings.txt file you have the app dimensions (w h) in pixels.
if you lower the height in pixels it won't show the graph.
also set lines 10 and 11 (the graph's size itself) to "0 0", with no quotation marks of course.
you can also manually crop it inside obs itself if you right click the window capture, hover over transform, and click edit transform.
i've been following this thread for some time, and think it's time to finally respond. mad dummy skip is an extremely complex and frame-perfect trick. it is almost impossible to explain through text properly. even top runners fail this trick every couple runs, and so you should probably not attempt it in your first couple runs.
if you want a resource to learn about speedrunning, this google docs guide is great. it gives an accurate and detailed explanation of the tricks you want to learn about. if you want the easy way of skipping the news show, it's in the guide, but i heavily recommend also learing serious / sirius skip, and using that as your main method.
i know this is late, but the technique is known as 'piano mashing'
shayy has a nice, albeit unlisted, video here
