Why does the timer stop ticking down, then takes 2 away?"
Cited from Simplistic6502 on Discord: (c. 2024) "That happens when you load the axe at the same time as the timer ticks down" "the axe requests a palette update to load Bowser's colors and this overwrites the timer's visual update"
Using the hot swap trick with a Tennis cart you could easily warp to World 8 in under 2 minutes.
Drag and drop the file here locally: https://emn178.github.io/online-tools/md5_checksum.html (it won't be uploaded to the internet)
Here are the MD5 hashes for the NTSC versions of the game, if your file matches any of these then it's good to use:
SMB1 single cart: 811b027eaf99c2def7b933c5208636de
SMB1 + Duck Hunt: 1306a0286248a0851005464d7ec8d785
SMB1 + Duck Hunt + World Class Track Meet: 2041ef14c3d0f86b62e424f28bf6db2a
edit: literally right after posting this i was informed that ROMs with an iNES 2.0 header will have a different hash despite having the same data lol
Crazy_Gaming61:
Can I be a verifier for this game?
AFAIK There are no positions currently open at the moment, sorry
KilleDragon:
verifier/moderator is given if at all to comunity members that were not in it wanting to me a verifier/moderator
Moderator or verifier roles aren't usually just given to people against their will, for SMB1 I had to put a lot of effort in myself to earn it and actively volunteer for it. It was not a role that was randomly assigned to me against my wishes.
Unlicensed consoles/famiclones will often have certain behaviors or issues that a regular NES would not experience when a game is being played, (an obvious example would be inaccurate sound emulation) thus making them inaccurate compared to an original console and not allowed for that reason.
Nope, only platforms that are listed under "Approved hardware/software" in Game Rules are permitted.
You're meant to patch the bps file onto an existing SMB1 ROM file, use Rom Patcher JS.
He's using a custom lua script which he chooses not to distribute publicly.
I actually have a few hacks I've made on my famicom mini.
You can get ROM hacks on an NES classic if you use hackchi I believe it's called.
The actual rom has 2 worlds, not 1. Should the speedruns therefore not count?
In most emulators, you use your mouse as a zapper. This is obviously more effective than using an actual zapper, so to be 100% sure, (i know there's an emu category) can you use your mouse as a zapper when playing on emu?
Currently can't post because Pac doesn't like that, I've last found the FDS version on my old Windows 7 PC, which I currently can't back up, your best bet is insectduel's website.
I currently have it, I know that you have my discord, please DM me on twitch or discord and I will send you the ROM file.
