If you pause at the frame right before a cutscene start, you can actually walk during cutscenes.

Using this before the Alpha Wolf fight allows you to go to The Needle straightaway, progressing the story without beating the wolves.

Although, I can't perform this consistently.

Even if we can, I don't think it'll be faster for Any%. You'll have less exp for your future fights. Biggest problem of that is probably the fact that you'll be level 16 instead of 17 before the Leroux Soldiers fight, which means you don't have Aria's Early Protection that makes the Soldiers fight consistent. (Haven't really tested this though)

Decklist and deckcodes that I'm going to use for my resetless* runs. Gonna update any changes to decklists in this post. (Updated 24/2) List: https://imgur.com/a/lrc1uPp Code: https://pastebin.com/TdByBKGc

*) Resetless after I got the Millhouse trick in second fight.

Major changes:

  • Maloriak: Playing with warlock like what I did last year didn't go well somehow. My winrate is not so good, maybe current AI knows how to curve better. So, I tried N'zoth priest deck instead (similar to my older strats). It's working pretty well thanks to the newer cards. Maybe about 70% winrate if he didn't play Abberation spell turn 1-2, I still reset if he does play it in turn 1-2 though. N'zoth and Arch-thief Rafaam are the late game finishers. Speed is bit slower than using warlock though. Still not that sure if my deck composition is optimal. Gnomergan Infantry and Plated Beetle are worth trying out as well.

  • Baron Geddon & Ragnaros: I put in Countess Ashmore to tutor Majordomo Executus. Which means that I can't use any other deathrattles, and have to change a lot of my old decklist. Fortunately both bosses are pretty easy and you could try lots of alternative cards. Had good results in these two bosses during my runs, often got a fast time compared to my run a year ago.

  • Atramedes: (My old zoolock deck didn't work well anymore, maybe because the opponent knows how to trade even better, kinda like in Maloriak.) Odd Paladin works well for Atramedes, since hero power doesn't buff his weapon and he doesn't have any board clears. Speed is also slightly faster than my old zoolock deck, usually finishes in turn 7-9. Playing this deck fast is also harder than I thought. Need to constantly monitor opponent's damage on board to make sure they don't kill you, since you'll mostly hitting face once you have bunch of tokens, Some notes on how to play this deck:

  • Don't play anything in turn 1, and use hero power in turn 2. Playing a 1-drop in turn 1 is useless since that'll just buff Atramedes's weapon and the 1-drop will be wasted.

  • If you already got a bunch of tokens at around turn 4/5, I'll just mostly hit face and ignore most of enemy minions, except if enemy's board is capable of killing you.

  • the 1-drops purpose are to protect your tokens (other than Lost in the Jungle)

  • When dealing with Twilight Whelp or Faerie Dragon early on, damaging them to 1 HP works well since that'll stop them from hitting your tokens.

Minor changes made recently:

  • Chromaggus: Added more healing (Shroom Brewer), Doomsayer (good early game) and Deathwing in case things are still bad in late game. Not sure if I made the right changes, but I seem to like these changes from my limited amount of testing
  • Rend Blackhand: Equality is nerfed so I switched it with Shrink Ray. Also replaced Wild Pyromancer with Belligerent Gnome now since Pyromancer is weak without equality. My old run have 4-mana Call to Arms, but it's 5-mana now so I only use one copy of it.
  • Lord Nefarius: Mass Hysteria is a really good board clear for this boss.
  • Garr: Dozing Marksman and Rumble Bouncer is not bad for this boss.
  • Omnotron: Flash of Light and Prismatic Lens are good card draws for this fight.
  • Nefarian: Tried to use Countess Ashmore as well, but I can't make it work without any deathrattles since they're really useful for this boss. My final decklist turns out to only use one 2-drop (Dark Peddler) so I switched it for Prince Keleseth for the memes.

Just for reference, here's the decklists I used in my ESA Movember run (not long before Rastakhan Rumble's released), if anyone's wondering what I replaced Giggling Inventor with https://imgur.com/a/QM5480i No major changes other than Grobbulus because of the bugfix or replacement of Giggling Inventor

Forgot to post my newest Karazhan strats here. Links posted below are the ones used on my 48:06 run. Decklist: https://imgur.com/a/1R2RHEQ Deckcodes: https://pastebin.com/rFi6i7Xt

Curator: Shaman have lots of cheap control tools to deal with Curator's early game, removals if he got a huge minion from a random effect, and mid-cost huge minions to quickly finish off the boss once you gain board control.

Finishing time usually ranges between 2:50-3:30, which seems to be an overall improvement compared to any other strats previously used for a speedrun. There's still a small chance to lose because of the random nature of this boss, I doubt you could avoid this because of the random nature of this boss.

There are lots of ways to beat this boss, although most quick ways might not be that consistent. Haven't experimented a lot though.

Free Medivh: My 48:06 run uses the Sac Pact bug, which was patched several days after that run. So I probably gonna move my run to a different category until more improvements are available in the future.

I made a deck using the Majordomo+Treachery stuff here: https://imgur.com/a/CeG9pz7 AAEBAf0GCJAHwg/WEekRxcwCl9MClugCoIADC4oB+AeODvUP/qwC5sICysMC08UC/dACx9MC6OcCAA== Still not as fast as I hoped, but it's mostly consistent. Still a bit of chance to lose with a bad early game. Usually takes between 6-7 minutes, although could be as low as 5 minutes if I'm really lucky.

Silverware Golem: There are three classes that I think are decent for this boss: Warrior, Paladin and Warlock. If you want to make this boss really consistent, you can just fill your deck with all the board clears available. Although this playstyle won't be fast.

To make this deck faster, you've to put minions that could generate lots of value for cheap cost, such as Sea Giant, Volcanic Drake or Grim Patron. The more of these minions you put though, the deck might be less consistent because there'll be less defensive tools.

The deck that I use seems to have around ~70% winrate in practice (although worse for my actual run attempts). I choose warrior because it's easier to summon multiple Grim Patrons compared to Paladin/Warlock, and Frothing Berserker can cause quick kills too. Tar Lord also turns out to be pretty good since it can easily kill lots of mid-size minions.

There are lots of ways you can optimize this deck. I doubt my version is optimal, but I'm not sure if there's any optimal way since it's usually a matter of trade-off between speed and consistency.

Julianne: I tried to optimize Odd Paladin which was used by One1_won, I got turn 7-8 kills about 75% of the time.

Put in Dancing Swords and Stoneskin Basilisk because I think they're good in dealing with an early Fierce Monkey. Some of the 1-drops are put here just so I can get a 1-drop on first turn more often.

Haven't tried lots of other decks though, and there could be bunch of other decks that might be as fast since this boss is easy and can be beat with lots of decks.

Minor improvements in other decks:

  • Illhoof: I'm still using Priest instead of Defile Warlock, since Warlock could be much slower if I don't get my Defile early.
  • Crone: Put some 1-drops because I often have spare 1-mana that I can use at most turns. Also put in C'thun Disciple/Spring Rockets because they're really flexible.
  • Shade of Aran: Added more card draws, not sure why the older version uses Shadowstep. Rogue is faster than Shaman on average.
  • Netherspite: Putting in more charge minions like Wolfrider and Bluegill Warrior seems to help quite a lot with making the decks more often to finish below turn 9.

Chess: Got about 2/3 wins in Chess usually, here's what I usually do in the first three turns:

  • turn 1 do nothing, opponent will play double Pawns with coins
  • turn 2 play 1 Pawn, opponent will usually play only 1 pawn next turn
  • turn 3 play 3x Pawns or a Rook, this will give the most double-attacks if the opponent only have 3 Pawns by turn 2 As for the AI manipulation, AI won't use hero power on a 1-health Pawn or Bishop. Opponent will still use it on a 2-health Pawn though, and still use it for a 1-health Knight or Rook.

Prologue: This is the single thing that make me dislike running heroic Karazhan. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Crappier new secrets and average legendary minion's stats seems to reduce the consistency and speed a lot. Currently, I probably have around 20-30% winrate with an average time of above 7:30. While last year, I usually got around 70% winrate and average finish time of around 6:30.

Indonesiasrd_276 years ago

The recent patch fixed the bug in Grobbulus and Razuvious. Razuvious's bug fix doesn't really matter most of the time, but Grobbulus's bug fix does have a significant impact since he can play lots of huge minons through his Mutating Injection spell.

Here's the adjustment I made to the Alextrasza Priest deck, got 10/10 wins on practice https://imgur.com/a/2s0D2I8 AAEBAa0GBMUE7QXVCrmyAg2KAaEE+AfTCtYK/A+WFLe7Auq/AtHBAvDPAujQArfxAgA=

The major change (other than adding SW:D and Mass Dispel), is to add Spirit Lash and Bloodmage Thalnos, which made to synergize with Dragonfire Potion. Without those two, Dragonfire potion is usually not that effective since his buffed minions are outside Dragonfire Potion's range (Lightbomb is also not a good alternative since buffed Echoing Ooze wont be killed by Lightbomb)

Obviously average time will be slower now that the boss has improved. Average speed might not be slower by much. but the variance seems to be pretty high.

Indonesiasrd_276 years ago

Some decks that I've recently tried and talked about in the discord channels with others:

Heigan: https://imgur.com/a/EzSb4Nf AAEBAf0GAA+jAbYH3Ar6DfwPrRCrwgKPxwLYygKizQL90ALY5QK38QLx9wLi+AIA Monk's iteration of this deck works consistently fast, I usually got a time between 2:30 to 3:30, could be even faster if I got really lucky tempo with Molten GIants.

Noth: https://imgur.com/a/WkrK9kG AAEBAf0EBMABxQTsB7myAg2sAbsCyQOrBMsElgWHD7oWiK8C6boCmMQCj9MCtPwCAA== Freeze Mage works well here, partly thanks to more card draw from Research Project. Just stall until you got Alexsztraza. Note that Noth doesn't have any burst from his deck, but he have 3 secrets which are 2x Counterspell, 2x Duplicates and 1x Ice Block.

Four Horsemen: https://imgur.com/a/GsVpuTk AAEBAa0GAqIC7QUO+wGcAuUE+AelCdEK1gqIFLW7Are7AtHBAtLBAqH+AtD+AgA= Gameplan is to kill Baron RIvendare with Potion of Madness + Divine Spirit + Topsy Turvy. Keep any card draws in your opening hand, I usually take out any combo pieces from opening hand because I'll get them later anyway. This current iteration is consistent, and usually kills him within 8 turns, getting sub-3 minutes most of the time. I don't think Radiant Elemental and Mind Blast is useful for this deck,

Sapphiron (with Mechathun Warrior): https://imgur.com/a/uccGV4C AAEBAQcE+BGdxwLK5wLx+wINogT8BKwH/weyCOIPqRW5wwLGwwLx0wKm8AKb8wL09QIA Similar to the Mechathun Druid strats with 2x Witchwood Piper + Hemet, Jungle Hunter. But this turns out to be really consistent even though slightly slower than Druid. I usually got a time of 3 to 4 minutes, although there's a small chance it can be significantly slower than usual if you didn't get a Piper or Hemet for a long time. Tried this deck 10+ times and never lost yet (although I got really lucky in one fight, so there's still a small chance to lose)

Some notes:

  • Tsubaki's Mill Druid are made for safety, so it's not that fast. Mirin happen to got a really good time in his JRTA (and PB) run
  • They used Majordomo + Treachery for Free Medivh!. Note that Free Medivh is now bugged where you can use Sac Pact to instantly kill Malchezaar.

A new strat for Sapphiron is to use Hemet Jungle Hunter + Mecha'thun to make it fast in emptying your deck, and triggering Mechathun's effect is easy because Sapphiron will destroy all of your minions every turn. Druid is probably the best class for this because of early defensive spells and ramps. It's faster compared to other old decks such as OTK Priest, although the decks that I've tried is still not so consistent.

There are two variants of this deck:

  • Using Hemet, Mechathun and Branching Paths as the only cards costing more than 3: (I also have tried not using Branching Paths, but I think Paths is too good not to include) AAEBAZICBO0FnccCv/IC8fsCDekB/gGcAsQG+AfkCPwPvqsCibQCmNICntICt/ECj/YCAA==

  • Using Witchwood Piper, Hemet and Mechathun as the only minions, fill rest of deck with spells costing 3 or less: (credits to Vinceomatic for this deck) https://imgur.com/a/xgrBCra AAEBAZICAp3HAvH7Ag7pAf4B0wOFBsQGmgjkCOgV6RW+qwKY0gKm8AK/8gKP9gIA

The double Witchwood Piper variant is the one I find most consistent, with a winrate of around 60%. I can draw the Piper in time for most of my attempts, and all of my wins have been within 10 turns. My finishing time ranges around 2.5 to 3 minutes.

Alternatively, you can use Mechathun strat without Hemet, which allows you to put more expensive cards like what Mirin did in his 1:05 run. This variant seems consistent but is probably slower than OTK Priest.

Indonesiasrd_276 years ago

Recently, I tried Lord Nefarius again, which gets harder somehow compared to back when I do runs at K&C era. I tried to put Wax Elementals, Annoy-o-tron and Giggling Inventors which seems to help quite a lot. Got a record of 8-5 with one loss where I made stupid misplays.

cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/283236838347505666/479629612922437654/unknown.png AAEBAa0GBgmhBIqwAtLTAtDrAoL3AgyKAZwC+AfTCpIPhRC3uwLRwQLo0ALH0wLe0wLi+AIA

Although AI seems to use their spells more often now compared to older AI, which makes it unlikely for them to have a hand full of spells, unlike back then where it often happen. (Might also be the reason on why this level gets harder) As a result, the games are probably slower too, although I havent tried timing my attempts

Indonesiasrd_276 years ago

Chromaggus with Discard Quest Warlock: https://imgur.com/a/I7RZ8s8

Credits to Monk for this decklist. (And here's his recent work for other bosses if anyone wants to look at it https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_RCQN10mQZQkt9fPJ66KAH42uRiFiqHHEP0Ky2Eayio/edit#gid=0 ) He said he got around 60% winrate with this deck, which is a significant improvement compared to the old priest deck.

The aim is to complete the quest and get rid of his Chromatic Dragonkins during the early turns. Usually I managed to complete the quest within 7 turns. After using the quest reward, next goal is to stabilise the board and eventually you'll be ahead in board control.

The game will be smoother if you have Cataclysm in opening hand. You can use it either in turn 4 to complete the quest straight away. or wait until turn 6 to bait more enemy minions using your Bronze curse (and Cataclysm on turn 6 will also get rid of your Bronze and Black curse).

I guess Zilliax and Clutchmother Zavas isn't really important in this deck, in case you don't have then and didn't want to craft them. Lana'thel is pretty good as a late game though.

Indonesiasrd_276 years ago

Lich King Druid with Mechathun, consistent turn 5-6 kills https://imgur.com/a/hKW5V8i

7-card deck filled with ramps and Mecha'thun+Innervate+Naturalize combo makes it really easy to trigger Mecha'thun's effect. Note that you can use Biology Project to trigger Lich King's Frostmourne, which could be used to prevent him from playing Anti-Magic Shell on a large board.

Credits to Mikkelhess for the idea. Demo video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNl-6x14T7E

About 2 months ago I tried some Naxx bosses, but realised that optimising everything will take lots of time so I stopped since I need time to prepare for my LOE run at ESA. Here are the bosses that I've tried. Also note that Boomsday is coming out soon, so we'll have new cards and possibly some more AI changes.

Kel'thuzad: https://imgur.com/a/MrJwiVa AAEBAa0GBO0F6RHqvwLS0wINigH7AZwCtAKhBOUE+AfTCpIPlhTRwQLo0AK98wIA With more defensive tools these days, you can afford to play more card draws and have a high chance of doing the Majordomo trick within 3 turns after Kelthuzad switches to his second phase.

Razuvious: https://imgur.com/a/XEJua0T AAEBAa0GBAnFBIsQubICDYoBnAKhBOUEigf4B4UQ0cECm8IC08UC6NACx9MC0tMCAA== Using Priest. Win condition is to use Alexstraza + Velen/Mind Blast. Rest of decks are taunts, weapon removals and card draws. (Note that he have 4 copies of the 3-mana 20-damage weapon). Have a high chance of getting low 3 minutes on my tests and is very consistent.

Grobbulus: https://imgur.com/a/heXJP7X AAEBAa0GBAnFBNYKubICDYoBoQTlBMkG+Af7DPwPlhTqvwLRwQLo0AK38QK98wIA Note that Grobb is currently bugged where he never plays his Mutated Injection. Same win condition as Razuvious, which is similar to how Tsubaki did Grobbulus. High chance of getting low 3 minutes and sometimes sub-3 too.

Loatheb: https://imgur.com/a/3YCxNfv AAEBAZ8FAry9Av7zAg6KAYUDoQaPCdwK9Q+FEJUQ3sQCuMcC48sC99ACvdMCsukCAA== Tried to use Paladin and managed to make it consistent, still a small chance to lose with bad early game draws though.

Patchwerk: https://imgur.com/a/wk3gVmN AAEBAf0EAA+sAZUDigf4B7wIiA+OEJcQkBTasAKEuwKXwQLTxQKVzgLH0wIA Usual Mage strategy but I managed to optimize this deck to very consistently get turn 6 kill. I can't get a turn-5 though (except one time out of 20+ where I'm very lucky), so the only other way to optimize this is by not playing cards that give extra animation such as Millhouse.

Gluth: https://imgur.com/a/ytMROQb AAEBAZ8FBJAH6Q//rwK5wQINogLcA4oH7A/tD5UQ4hHexALTxQK4xwLZxwLjywK35wIA I tried to optimize the dude paladin deck with newer cards. Might not be optimal yet, there's still a pretty small chance of the fight being much slower than average if you have a lack of resources on late game. The one copy of Seal of Light is good to clear the board on early game, might not be a bad idea to put two of these.

Maexxna with nerfed Rogue Quest: https://imgur.com/a/3Rb25z6 AAEBAaIHAobCAsPqAg6zAcQB7QKfA80DiAX4B4YJt2zorwKStgL4vQKXwQLiygIA So this Quest Rogue uses lots of 0-drops to complete the quest. The nerfed quest does hurt this deck though, I have a huge variance in the finishing time, from low 3 minutes to high 5 minutes. Although this deck might not be optimal yet, or we just have to deal with the fact that there's no way quest rogue can be as fast as Tsubaki's run anymore. What makes Maexxna pretty slow is the animation of Haunted Creepers attacking one by one. If there's a reliable way of clearing the Creeper+Tokens early on, a combo deck such as Alex+Velen+Mind Blast could have a potential here.

@JastersAccount I think CVagts and Seya isn't actively using this site anymore. Best way of seeking changes is to contact Tetsuya directly, although I guess he doesn't have forum notification for the Suikoden games.

Also note that there are already existing non-NG+ runs done for Suiko4, although I guess the runners didn't bother to submit it here yet.

Summary of the newer strats that I did in my recent run (Decklist here: https://imgur.com/a/3dlHpto ) Most of the major improvements are made thanks to Mossy Horror, which is really good in dealing with 2/6 Trapped Souls.

  • Mage: I tried the Secret Aggro Mage instead of Murloc, not sure if it works better or not. Counterspell is useful to counter turn 6 Blizzard

  • Hunter: Molten Giant Buff means that you can put more spells and still get a 0-mana Molten Giant. I also tried a slightly different approach compared to my old run, where I anticipate the possibility of this fight going beyond turn 7 (with Sludge Belcher to protect me from Frostmourne and Mossy Horror to deal with Trapped Souls). Not sure if this is better compared to the old strats.

  • Rogue: Uses the Kelthuzad and Scaled Nightmare trick, which is possible thanks to Mossy Horror (+Abusive Sergeant). Totally consistent because your deck is thinned. (Murloc Rogue is still faster if it works, although the nerf on Warleader and Bonemare probably make this deck hard to win with)

  • Druid: Also use a similar method as Rogue, but the steps in carrying out the trick is more complicated (and slower) because I don't have Abusive Sergeant. Here are the steps for the tricks:

  1. Turn 8: Play Scaled Nightmare after Lich King plays Frostmourne. 3 of your Scarabs will still be alive.
  2. Turn 9: Play Kel'thuzad, now enemy can't kill your 3 remaining Scarabs.
  3. Turn 10: Play Mossy Horror + Mark of Y'shaarj (on one of the Souls), can't do this step before the first 2 steps because you need multiple Scarabs to protect your Kel'thuzad and/or to prevent the remaining Trapped Soul from killing himself by hitting Kel'thuzad.
  4. Turn 11: Play Scaled Nightmare (plus Mark of Y'shaarj to speed-up the game by one turn). You'll probably be fatigued at this point so shuffle your Jade Idols too. I also put Healing Touch to heal the one remaining Trapped Soul so he won't die from attacking the Scarabs.

Warlock's Majordomo trick can be seen on the post above. Shaman, Priest, Paladin and Warrior uses same old strats although with slight optimisations.

Indonesiasrd_277 years ago

Naz'jar update: I just recently realised that Corridor Creeper is a really good minion for Naz'jar. My 59:40 PB still don't have Corridor Creeper in the decklist.

https://imgur.com/a/94QbtPV Here's a version of the hunter decklist that I tried with Corridor Creeper. I also switched some 2-drops into 1-drops, not sure if it's better or not.

The bad thing about Corridor Creeper is that there are lots of understatted 7-drops, so they often transform into a minion whose stats are only worth 5 or 6 mana.

New strats for Omnotron: Sound the Bells! + Electron https://imgur.com/a/elmnFSy

Electron (reduces your spell cost by 3 mana) allows you to cast the Echo spell unlimited times. Faster average speed compared to the old Druid deck. Tried this 15-20 times and I only lost once.

The time it takes to cast all the Sound the Bells! takes about 40 seconds with a Crazed Alchemist, takes twice more time without it.

I added Ironbeak Owl to silence Taunts, if he put one.

Warlock with Majordomo + Treachery combo: https://imgur.com/a/XnkwK

  • Use Corrupting Mist + Silence to keep only one Tortured Soul alive
  • Use Kel'thuzad exploit
  • Use Majordomo + Treachery combo

This decklist is consistent. Murloc Warlock is faster but not that consistent, while Renolock is now obsolete since Majordomo trick is faster.
