Karazhan patch changed the AI again so it prefers to trade like before, at least the Baron Geddon bug is still in :p

Edit: After playing around with more BRM bosses, I think I might understand the AI's pattern in choosing when to aggroing or trading. (Though I'm still not fully sure if this is how it works)

If your HP is still above 20, the AI will still prefer to trade. But once it reaches 20 or below, the AI seems to prefer to hit face almost all the time, even when they can clear out a Doomsayer. Although they will still normally use their spells to kill your minions.

Edit2: After doing a bunch of BRM attempts, it seems that the threshold is 25 HP instead of 20 like I previously thought.

Are the tools that he use widely available? It's gonna be interesting if someone did a "TAS" run with these tools and the newest strats to see how fast can SA any% be.

Casual viewer here, so my opinion probably don't really matter. But tbh I don't see why everyone here is so against making a new category for the old any%, even if the old any% isn't being so active.

The new any% seems to have a really different gameplay style compared to the old any% (whether with dupes or not), which seems already a good enough reason to make a 'no wrong warp' category.

Newcomers might not be aware of the old any% if they only came here right now. And they might not be interested in trying out VC as a speedgame because the newer strats aren't appealing for them, while not being aware of the old any% which would've been interesting for them. (or not bothering with doing lots of googling just to find out how the older strats look like)

IIRC, MH's WR is like about 2 months ago and Anti-Streaks just made the 2nd place about a month ago. And looking at the leaderboards, there seems to be a bunch of runs with "1 month ago" time. So the old any% doesn't seem like a 'dead category' at all. (unless if you only compare it with the most active/popular speedgames out there, while there's lots of speedgames that are much more inactive then this)

Just my two cents as a casual viewer, I'm also interested in seeing how far can you guys shorten the any% OpieOP

Ragnaros: http://imgur.com/a/uEXWi

Uses midrange shaman with Bloodlust as the finisher.

This deck isn't optimal yet, probably I'm gonna change the early game minions. But this boss is easy so even with this deck I can still usually win. There could also be a lot of other alternatives.

All you have to do in this boss is to control board and bring Majordomo's HP to 16 or higher, until you have the Bloodlust to deal lots of damage at once. Ragnaros have 60 total HP though so I never able to finish off Majordomo and Ragnaros in the same turn.

Edit: I changed Tunnel Trogg with Spider Tank, 3/4 minion is really useful against Majordomo's hero power

Also added Healbots for heals to prevent losses from Ragnaros's hero power

Baron Geddon: http://imgur.com/a/fzYlL

Uses zoolock, I'm not sure if this is optimal yet and there could be lots of other alternatives but it's usually working. Still have a bit of chance of failing though since you might not always avoid his hero power if you don't have the right cards.

Forbidden Ritual and Brewmasters help a lot in avoiding the hero power. Saboteur also might help since if you use him, Geddon won't use his hero power if he have less than 5 mana at the end of his turn.

His Living Bomb seems bugged since he never used that card at all (which is the reason I tried brewmasters in the first place). If the Living Bomb works again, Power Overwhelming and Recombobulator will be really useful.

Turns out the recent Morgl patch also changes the AI. Now the AI attack face more often than before, perhaps this is the same as the old AI. This could make some bosses harder and some bosses easier.

Some significant changes that I can think of:

  • Thaddius: If it's the old AI, the zoolock deck that I previously used might work again and it could be a much easier boss now.
  • Razuvious and Gluth: Now, they will probably always attack face with their weapons instead of minions (if you dont have taunt). This will make these two bosses riskier, and I probably need to put more heals/taunt if I want it to be safer.
  • Loatheb: His hero power actually works now. So you'll need heals or you'll die pretty fast.

If I want to do a run again, I'll need to test all my previous decks and see how much will I need to change.

Razorgore: http://imgur.com/a/zduey

Typical zoolock with some cards that counters Razorgore's egg (including board clears). Seems consistent enough.

Indonesiasrd_278 years ago

After the Morgl patch, it seems the AI is changed again. Now the AI will go face more often, maybe it's the same as the pre-WoToG AI. (Loatheb's hero power bug is also fixed)

All the decks that are posted above are done before this patch, but it probably won't have significant effect since the decks aren't stall decks. It'll probably be easier for a tempo-based deck if the AI prefers to go face.

Using a stall deck will probably be harder though, since it'll be better for us if the AI didn't go face during the early turns.

Saw Josh mentioning this tourney in his stream several days ago. Isn't the "5 decks, 1 ban" requirement a bit too demanding for a casual tourney?

Since there could be a bunch of people who have incomplete collections and aren't experienced in tourney-style HS, isn't it better to just have 3 decks and no need to worry about which class to ban?

Just my 2 cents as a casual viewer. Gonna be fun watching this if it's actually streamed. OpieOP

Vaelastrasz: http://imgur.com/a/cdE4w

Uses token/murloc druid. I used druid instead of shaman because innervate is completely strong in this match (naturalize is also pretty useful)

The most annoying card that he can use is arcane missile, which can kill a bunch of your 1-hp minions. So make sure to buff your minions if you already have a bunch of them.

Never lost, and most of the times the game ends in turn 5-6. (Once I reached turn 4 and 7) But playing this deck quickly is hard because of the many calculations you have to make.

Indonesiasrd_278 years ago

Garr: http://imgur.com/a/JXxoU

Uses Priest with the typical method of beating Garr. Use Circle of Healing or Mass Dispel to prevent the Firesworns from killing you. Use Lil Exorcist and Sea Giant for very early large creature, and some enrage minions that helps too. If you're lucky, you might also get Lightwarden + Circle of Healing combo that helps in killing it quickly. Usually wins in turn 6.

Indonesiasrd_278 years ago

Omokk: http://imgur.com/a/xEhyy

Uses a token druid, since his hero power is strong against single targets but not so strong against lots of minions. Druid's hero power is also pretty good to clear out the 1-hp minions that Omokk have.

FoN/Dark Wispers/Wisps of Old Gods are really strong cards for late game. Soul of the Forest is also really useful in late game to protect your tokens.

Usually no need to put your small minions in the early turns, since it's just going to get killed, except for nerubian egg or saboteur. It's better to play multiple minions at once on turn 4-6 so your board is immediately filled with tokens and it'll be hard for him to clear it.

I'm not really sure if this deck is fully optimal, but I tried it 10-12 times and only lost once due to Mogor ruining my lethal. Most of the wins have been within turn 12, with the quickest being turn 7.

Onyxia and N'zoth is decent for late game cards, though I don't think if it's worth to replace any of the current cards for one of them. Shredder can be replaced with Twilight Summoner if you want to.

Indonesiasrd_278 years ago

Drakkisath: http://imgur.com/3tEjLIT

Twisting Nether and DOOM! makes this fight easy, since you can always reset the board everytime he's starting to dominate.

Soggoth and Cho'Gall is probably also good in this deck but I still don't have them so I haven't tried it, although I don't need them and still never loses though.

Since he have 2x Sprint, he often reaches fatigue, which makes Coldlight Oracle really useful to deal fatigue damage on him.

Edit: I forgot to put BGH on this deck which would've been really useful, especially now that the AI prefers to go face than trade.

Indonesiasrd_278 years ago

Anub'rekhan: http://imgur.com/IJCKdAY

Uses midrange hunter, maybe about 50/50 winrate, but it's the first match anyway so I can just repeat when I lose.

I can't find a way to consistently win this boss with a 'fast' deck, the 4/4 hero power is just damn strong, maybe a slower control/stall deck can be consistent. But the midrange hunter usually wins on turn 9-12 if it wins, so it should be significantly faster compared to decks like freeze mage.

Previously I tried zoo and midrange shaman but it's significantly more inconsistent.

Indonesiasrd_278 years ago

Sapphiron: http://imgur.com/4VIZrb8

Similar to freeze mage, just stall then use your damage spells later in the game, duplicate is really useful to copy useful minions like sheep, healbot or leeroy. Note that alexstaza is banned in this boss

Indonesiasrd_278 years ago

Grobbulus: http://imgur.com/mx0xxh8

Using priest, basically just stall until you can comfortably put down your big minions.

Bog creepers, ragnaros and alexstraza is really useful, other big minions can be replaced if you want to.

Indonesiasrd_279 years ago

Loatheb: http://imgur.com/hmFZVbo

The AI seems bugged, he almost never uses his hero power unless your HP is already really low, making this fight much easier lol

Uses paladin, the deck might still be improved but so far I never lost with it and usually kills him within 15 turns (quickest i got is 7-8 turns)

Doomsayer is really good for early game

Indonesiasrd_279 years ago

Maexxna: http://imgur.com/2GOKm4m

Gameplan is similar to Noth, just stall until you got alextraza

Ravaging ghoul/Corrupted seer/Novice engineer really helps, but make sure you dont get milled if you only use the minions over and over

A possible alternative strat is c'thun rogue maybe, with beckoner/disciple/blade of cthun to get very large cthun, though i havent tried it

Indonesiasrd_279 years ago

Faerlina: http://imgur.com/hoYay1O

Uses mostly typical zoolock cards, but I also added dragon eggs (along nerubian ones) because they're really useful in this boss. She normally dont use hero power if an egg is still on the board.

Used shadow bolt instead of darkbomb since she have lots of dangerous 4-HP minion

I don't use knife juggler since it's RNG/situational and kind of a win-more card, while the knifes also could hit her eggs Also removed voidcaller since it's kinda slow and the deathrattle seldom have significant effect

I put a annoy-o-tron just in case I need a taunt and I can also use it in early game, and because I don't know what other card I can replace it with

The quickness of this level usually depends on how early I can get the big creatures out.

Maybe you could make it so that the runner have to add any extra time from reloads/deaths to the submitted IGT, shouldn't be hard to do, and it will be fairer this way. (Although editing the IGT of the current runs will be really annoying :p )
