We're actively discussing significant changes to the structure of this leaderboard as the current setup is not sustainable.
Feel free to contact me on Discord if you wish. I also have some questions regarding some mass changes as well (if you're able to do that).
Hi everyone, I'm pleased to announce the 2020 Super Mario All-Stars All Four Any% tournament starting in February. Anyone is welcome to join.
Please read the entire information section before joining.
This would probably be a little slower overall because you're in the air longer and you don't build P-speed unless you're on the ground. However, if that strat is consisent, it's not a bad alternate at all in my opinion. I don't think you'd see the upper tier runners use this strat, but for a lot of other runners, this looks to be a decent backup strat.
@YourFreeChicken - I'm going to be straight to the point regarding your response which I have deleted.
Don't be a dick.
I suppose you could edit the rejected runs and resubmit them if you're trying to get obsolete runs approved.
The list of rejected runs on our end for just SMB1 is.....510 runs. I'm not digging through that list.
Mesen is provisionally approved.
I have not found anything wrong with the testing I've done up to this point. However, if we do find a significant issue with it down the line, the approval could be revoked.
I will start off by saying before you submit an idea, there's a very very high chance it's going to be declined.
Why? Several reasons are possible from the following:
- We already have 42 categories which is already too many in my opinion
- It's a slight variation from an existing category
- It doesn't make logical sense
- Nobody has done runs of it or is interested in doing so
- It has complicated or silly rules (ex. stomp every third goomba) that makes it a pain to both run and verify
- It can only be done on emulator
New ideas need to be unique, and with the amount of categories that we already have, I feel about every feasible idea has been exhausted at this point.
We sometimes give the answer of "you can have your own leaderboard elsewhere" because that's our stance and we're rejecting the submission. I understand folks want a record on here, but if we accepted every idea that has been proposed, we'd probably have somewhere around 200 categories on this board which is absurd. Nobody wants to be a moderator of a nightmare like that. If you want to run some other leaderboard of miscellaneous runs, you are free to do so.
A friendly reminder that this is a Category Extensions (or meme) board. With the exception of possibly 2 or 3 categories, this board is not intended to be taken seriously like the main leaderboard. The categories are meant to be fun, lighthearted and give you a little break from the main categories.
SMB1/SMB2J main leaderboard runs are always given higher priority over runs on this leaderboard because we're the same group of moderators.
Yes, anytime you edit anything with your submission, it gets put back into the queue for re-verification.
Well, take a moment and think about the logic and reasoning here.
If someone submits a fake run, why would we not go back and give their other runs a second look? Why should we blindly trust the other runs are legitimate?
Being a critic and skeptic in regards to legitimacy is a core part of our responsibility. I do not understand how I'm in the wrong with my last post. I clearly stated what happened and why we're doing it. This isn't the first time this has happened and it surely won't be the last.
@Simkins1996 no you cannot have any kind of assistance on a blindfolded run. Also note that you must provide webcam footage in your video of yourself playing.
@Bailey_Sparkleweaver I don't normally post verification issues publicly, but since all of your links in your profile appear to be fake, I'm just posting it here. Since you submitted a blindfolded run that was very obviously not valid, we have taken the rest of your runs off the leaderboard and put them back in the queue for further discussion with the mod team.
This is a PSA for anyone who thinks it's cute or funny to submit fake runs. We don't think it's funny and it wastes our time that we volunteer for the community. There's also a decent chance that we'll retroactively reject ALL runs that you have posted on the leaderboard because we can no longer trust you to provide legitimate runs.
Running the FDS version of the game on a PowerPak or Everdrive is also acceptable.
He can contact us directly then. We don't honor third party requests.
If I have some free time this weekend, I'll try to update it. The painful part is I'm going to have to change that 42 times because we have 42 categories.
Switch is allowed, we just forgot to put it in the rules for CE. You are already able to choose that option when submitting.
