Any LightBikers? 😔

Another update!

Normal Match and Quick Match are now based on IGT instead of Real-Time! The time of the round(s) are added up to make the total run time, rather than including loads + start of the round.

For Death Match, loads are also excluded, and timing begins when your light bike begins moving.

Hello everybody, I'm quane, and I'm your new moderator for LightBike 2! I've been playing this game on-and-off since 2011, and just recently found that it had a SRC page!

I'm excited to be a moderator for this game and make changes to the boards. First off, the main change I made was changing Quick Match timing to in-game time rather than real-time. Additionally, I made changes to the general boards by adding placement icons and changing the background.

Anyways, that's what I've changed so far. Emulators are still allowed and encouraged (especially with newer Android devices not being able to play most versions of the game). If any existing or new runners have any recommendations as to what should be added to the board, make sure to send a message my way!

I agree with Peyt. Using real-time rewards an advantage to players using Dolphin Emulator over ones playing on real hardware. As I mentioned in my forum post a couple of months ago, this advantage is also apparent in different instances of Dolphin. Essentially, players are losing time where time should not be lost or counted. The individual race times are what matters in a 16/32 track run. As Peyt said, the base game uses IGT because there can still be a disparity in load times even if everyone is using the same hardware.

Here are the Nitro tracks and their corresponding times, with mine on the left and the current record on the right: 1:16.911 1:17.225 2:12.750 2:14.516 1:56.708 1:57.904 3:36.117 3:36.895 1:05.456 1:10.077 1:24.432 1:26.302 2:27.628 2:19.087 2:55.448 2:54.606 1:46.034 1:54.969 2:23.450 2:26.056 3:11.113 3:12.405 3:23.088 3:23.264 3:20.794 3:21.669 4:01.328 4:20.607 3:07.406 3:21.209 3:03.347 3:04.182 Final Times: 41:12.01 42:0.973

Hello everyone, you might know me as one of the first runners of this hack pack. After doing multiple runs of this game (both on normal hardware and Dolphin), I noticed something strange with the other runs on the leaderboard. I noticed that these runs have near-instantaneous load times. Between each track, it takes roughly five to six seconds for me to transition to the next one (using Dolphin). However, other runs have load times between two to three seconds. This causes me to be put at a disadvantage due to longer load times (of up to a minute or more). Looking at finishing times for each track would be a better solution than using real-time. For example, I compared my current best Nitro tracks run to the current world record. Going by real-time, I was behind the record by around 34 seconds. However, by adding up each track's time manually, I finished roughly 48 seconds ahead of the record. Using in-game time would eliminate the inconsistencies caused by varying loading times.

I recently submitted a run that was faster than one of my past runs, and it got accepted. The problem is it didn't replace the slower run on the leaderboard and was obsolete instead.
