Thank you very much for responding!

I had no idea about this 4 player run, thanks for linking!

We play every day, so far just trying to get to know the game better, but we're actively working to improve our time. The outcome probably won't be there for at least a month or so, we're both college students and can only play in the evening and late at night, and with a long speedrun like that, we still have a metric ass tone of planning to do. But we're both having fun and I've always wanted to makes this run a reality co I'm positive it will be done soon enough :)

The problem that we have is drop reloading, due to lag and phemocky's super old and weak PC it's almost impossible for him to make it work at all, so we're probably going to just stick to normal reloading for simplicity sake, making the speedrun that much longer but a bit more fun.

Anyway, thanks for answering once again. I'll be streaming some early attempts soon at twitch.tv/promyy_, although I rarely read the chat and our conversations with phemocky are in Polish only. But if anyone wants to jump in sometime and I'll gladly answer any questions! :)

Hello.

No idea how active is this forum - seemingly not very much - but worth a shot anyway.

My mate phemocky and I have started working on a 2 person co-op all missions speedrun. We just finished our first attempt - phemocky has not played this game much before - and finished with 5:36 IGT. We are aiming for around 4 hours or slightly less for now.

I was wondering - has anyone attempted any co-op runs before? I've searched both google and youtube for some but found nothing. Is there any particular reason why there are no co-op runs?

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys.

I was thinking about picking up GTA speedruns lately.

Unfortunately, my problem is that I'm very sensitive to mouse settings in games (sensitivity, acceleration etc.) and GTA is notorious for multiple problems in that area so I'm unable to play this game with a mouse and keyboard.

Now, I was thinking, would it be possible to speedrun GTA games on a pad?

  • is it even possible and allowed to use a pad?
  • would it make a noticable difference time-wise? as in, would the speedrun be significantly longer?
  • are there any missions or tricks that would be impossible with a pad?

Thanks in advance.

I'm positive it's impossible. I'd love to be wrong but there's no real way to skip or speed up anything in the first 2-3 minutes. The only way to somehow improve times is to aim faster and better. I can probably improve my WR run by additional 4-5 seconds, but unless the path changes getting below 3:52 should only be possible in a TAS run.

I'm attempting a new skip right now just to prove it's possible, no luck so far. I've only made one successful attempt while playing around with cheats, so I know it's theoretically possible, but other than that no actual attempt in a run was as lucky. If I fail to do it within a couple of days I'll make a tutorial on YouTube. It's a potential save of 30-45 seconds.
