You don't need an autosplitter, or livesplit at all if you're running Doom.wad, you'll just want to record a demo file and you're set.
If you're running the Unity port, then this is the wrong leaderboard entirely. Here's a link to the correct board: https://www.speedrun.com/doom_unity
You can, but you're limiting yourself massively and you're in for a pretty bad time. Any sane person would just suggest you get a modern source port like PrBoom+ or Crispy Doom and put your doom.wad in there, you'll have a much better time.
I don't think they would, as long as the demo checks out with them then there should be no issues. If you'd like to test using a different source port out, send me a demo recorded with -nomonsters, and I can try running it under PrBoom, otherwise as a less than knowledgable person I am stumped.
edit: I played back your original demo called 'e1nomo0450.lmp' using these parameters 'glboom-plus.exe -playdemo e1nomo0450.lmp -nomonsters', and it works. I have no clue if this is verifiable if the mods have to look directly at the demo file, a straight video rip is definitely doable with a command like this though.
I'm just gonna add this here, I record my demos with Crispy Doom and I had similar issues when messing around with nomo. My solution was playing the demos back through PrBoom+, so maybe give that a try?
The source ports that are most widely used are PrBoom+, Crispy Doom (and CNDoom). And honestly those are the only 3 you'd want to use.
The way Doom's timing works doesn't require LiveSplit or any external timing tools. At the end of each level you will be given your level time, and total time. If you are doing a a full episode run, your IGT (In-Game Time) will be your time at the end of E(X)M7, and your RTA (The main timing method here) will be displayed upon completion of E(X)M8. If you're doing a multi-episodic run (for example E1-E3) then, I believe your time is your just adding up the total times at the end of each episode. Take a pinch of salt with that last point though, I haven't ever looked into multi-episodic runs. Hopefully this helps.
This category (https://www.speedrun.com/goldeneye_007_n64/) is for runs performed on the Nintendo 64 console. The second like you provided (https://www.speedrun.com/ge60fps) used to host console runs, however, this category was created after the mods decided to nuke their N64 category on their times page. Their page now hosts modified emulator runs exclusively, while this page hosts N64 (and potentially purest emulator runs in the future). Any other questions, feel free to ask.
If you go into the steam files for the games you should have the wad files there. Source ports can be downloaded by just simply Google searching for them.
You want to download a permitted source port, for example Crispy Doom or PrBoom+, then you want to grab the Doom and Doom2 wad files and from that point it should be easy enough to follow any given tutorial out there.
If they're on the unity port they're looking a complete different leaderboard.
It is a category. I'd suggest Nomo if you want zero RNG though.
I feel that's a terrible excuse, firstly activity was definitely higher than other categories I've seen. I mean it N64 had 2 submissions verified yesterday before its removal. Low activity doesn't warrant the category being nuked, look at SM64's 0 and 1 star categories for reference. Most of the runs there are years old, no one there has thought of nuking the categories for that reason. The fact that other sites hold the same categories also isn't specifically a good reason. It you think that is untrue or unreasonable, check the Ultimate Doom and Doom II SRC pages. These games also have DSDA, a much larger page for that game. My point is, just because it's not popular or has other hosts doesn't mean it shouldn't exist here also.
So it should be back up later?
Just came on today, N64 category isn't showing at all. What happened? Is this just me?
I recently picked up a console and GE, but if I submitted a time done on that here, would it not be verified then? I just like the idea of having all my times in one place.
I mean this looks verifiable, at least in this not-so-knowledgeable person's mind. I'd probably suggest you wait for a mod to reply though. :)
It'd be way too hard to moderate, imo. What'd qualify as lookdown? If you look at the ground once, would that automatically make it lookdown? If you don't want to do lookdown, you'd have to run on the 1964 emulator. :/
Just before I ask what I have to ask, some background: I've never posted one of my runs on the leaderboards ,but I've done some 16 Star stuff on Project 64 running the NTSC-J version. I have bought an N64 PAL (since it's just what was available locally), I was wondering if anyone has tips for moving to N64 from emu, and for going to a slower version of the game since I'm moving to PAL. Thanks for any help. :D
If you're doing E1M1-M8, which is standard here, you're looking at the total end-screen time after E1M8 ends (After entering and 'dying' to the damaging floor). E1M1-M7, you'd be looking at the total end-screen time after finishing the 7th map, prior to the final level starting.
Hope this helps. :)
