I haven't been involved with this game for a long time now, but I shall make a small statement about version choice.
I keep backups of all versions of this game. Except 1.1.4, which slipped through my fingers before I could back it up. I could possibly make a patch program if someone teaches me. Anyway, assuming nothing else changed, the latest version 1.1.5 should be the best choice for speedrunners because it has significantly shortened the tower minigame, thus saving 30-50 seconds.
Older versions mainly focused on bugfixes and changed how or whether certain timesavers worked.
Ok, so it only works in co-op mode and not in single mode?
I always found this odd. The instruction book says you can steal items by boosting into an enemy, but on my version it never worked.
Is it a version difference? I'm on PAL.
What about "Small Mario Glitchless Jackpot without running"
this is well known. I have already tried getting on the top of 3-3 and it seems impossible. The wall clip only triggers at high falling speed.
I would like for there to be a lemmings revolution board.
I'm not a speedrunner of it, but I know that there are some interesting strats and tricks you can do. It would be interesting to keep track of fastest runs (timed by remaining ingame time imo would make the most sense).
When I have more time I might be looking into the game myself. I would have to figure out a way to play it in windowed mode first.
Sorry, by "no glitch" I just mean no memory corruption text glitch.
I see these should be the major categories:
- Glitched (any ending)
- No glitch any% (Ending 1)
- No glitch best ending (Ending 8 )
- No glitch All Endings
It is questionable if the endings other than 1 and 8 are significant to be their own run.
Here the video
I forgot to test the edge walking thing. Oh well...
My only tips I can give is that this game is a huge RNG fest. You need consistently good execution and make it through the game over and over and over until all the bosses comply in a reasonably fast manner.
I remember that I one day started up my stream and the first run I got was 11:29 and I never ran the game again after that. (I did go for some really wacky strats though)
Nope, it is not allowed, as it is not possible on the hardware.
As far as I know, GB handhelds don't physically allow you to do it. WIth SNES controllers it is barely possible.
In any case, that doesn't mean emulator users should get a free pass on using it for multiple frames at a simple keypress.
Hello, sorry for the late reply.
This was indeed unknown to me. Chancool currently has multiple times on the leaderboard and there seem to be more SGB times. It is currently not in my power to verify all these runs, but it should be a long-term goal to adjust times.
Thanks for bringing this up! If you are up for it, you are welcome to help adjust the times (or just point out the correct times in this topic) so I can edit the times.
Nice, I didn't know GB carts have imprints.
My two SML carts are:
- DMG-MQ-NOE with imprint "12B". It's actually very hard to deter if it is a 4 or a 1. This is my v1.2 cart.
- DMG-MQ-USA with imprint "22". This is my v1.0 cart.
2 minutes into that video:
oh wow, I always thought the pipe bug only works on version 1.0 and pipe death works on any version. Looks like I was wrong (I tested to make sure).
The $A2D5 address being an "unused debug flag" sounds plausible.
Wrapping the screen upwards (i.e. entering glitch world from below) seems indeed impossible. I had tested that many years ago and couldn't do it, although you can interact with the last 1 or 2 rows (as far as I remember).
hi, I'm planning to make a video about aoe1 glitches.
I have created this page which lists most of my findings:
http://tasvideos.org/GameResources/Windows/AgeOfEmpires.html
There are a few more things like "loading a gaia-controlled save will mess up the game", or "gaia-controlled villagers building something will crash the game", which I chose not to list. Not sure if I will include those in the video.
There are some bugs exclusive to multiplayer that I also chose not to look into further.
Let me know what you think.
Any chance of having these added?

There are more on his channel
Sorry but that is a bad idea, given that the stages are mostly execution and the bosses are RNG. If anything, it should be the other way around. Time the stages and leave the bosses out. And I don't agree with that idea either.
You feel free to do it though and post a video of it here.
Hello, thanks for posting at the tasvideos topic. I need more information on how to do the warp bug, because I can't seem to do it. It might be specific to a certain emulator or system.
For the record, split times are not and never should be used as the official and final times on the leaderboards. They are merely convenience for live twitch viewers.
So if a speedrunner starts his timer late, or forgets to stop his timer, then that doesn't make his run invalid or faster/slower.
