A lot of PC games have associated version number that changes over time. I'd probably just put it all under the same game for now, but start categorizing it under "Alpha" even though nothing else exists yet. I foresee most of the new stuff obsoleting running the old stuff, so the alpha could be phased out eventually.
I think they were broken when tested: http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/0tky5
They might have to be handled manually.
Guides might be fixed. Let us know if there are still issues.
Oh I see now, It might be related to the recent IL issues. Deleting and resubmitting it might work, or there might still be an issue on our end.
I went ahead and made you mod for this game so you can try a few things if you want.
In addition to many things we've been looking to improve on our own to-do list, many users have reported bugs and feature requests this week. We've fixed many of the more glaring issues, but there are still some outstanding. I'll look to keep this thread updated in tracking some of the more recent issues.
If you have anything else to add, feel free to list it here. Again, potential security issues should go through Pac ( pac413 ɑt gmail.com )
Higher priority:
- ~~Guides now save, but they save as a new guide instead of overwriting the old one. ~~
- ~~Matching a run with a username doesn't work anymore. It works for a moment, but when you visit the page again, it stays unmatched. ~~
Medium priority:
- Forums: Threads writeable after deletion, deletion doesn't remove from forum, negative post count when posts removed, deleting the last message of a thread redirects weird. Every forum is labelled as having new posts.
- Variables issue: http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/uonbx
Simple feature requests:
- Center click forum threads (space around text)
- Game name length/symbol protection: http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/0tky5
- Word wrap for long words on forums
Bigger projects/Longer term stuff (Lots to do before then):
- Timer Update
- Private Messages
- Site navigation reorganzation and better scaleability for small browsers/mobile
- Forum reorganization
- Category Flexibility changes
I think IL leaderboards are fixed? Let us know if they're not.
Something glitchy happened to get to that point. I deleted his copy and made your copy the only copy and attached it to the series.
If there's any more problems with this let me know.
Guide issue hasn't been fixed yet, it's one of the higher priority issues.
Yeah this has gotten me a couple times. I'm not sure how easy the fix is, but I'll let them know.
At a glance it looks like you figured this out? The third option on game edit lets you choose the series. If there's still issue with this let me know.
Forums is in need of a lot of rework eventually for better organization. I don't know that we'll get around to changing this until we start the larger effort to reorganize.
If you have a video played in one sitting and split into multiple video parts feel free to link the videos as described above.
Generally there's not a lot of people competing in literally segmented runs (such as 14 different sittings) for the average game and the points at which things are segmented and rules of timing can be pretty ambiguous and arbitrary.
This isn't to say it's any better or worse of a way to play the game, but it's not the same field of competition as most of the runs on the site.
Also if there's a strong case to be made for having segmented times for a game with an in-game timer, I'm not totally against it. It needs to be very clearly labelled as a separate category though.
My personal opinion is that segmented times don't measure well for competition, but certain games with timers like Super Metroid and Megaman 9 can lend themselves to it. Even still the competition there is almost nonexistent and I'm not sure it's worth having it as a category.
It looks like they have PS2 under a separate category in the left bar. It's maybe not the way I'd handle it personally, but I think we need to look towards eventually offering more flexibility with category organizing options.
We'll look into implementing some prevention for these cases.
Moderately high priority. Can probably be fixed along with the negative post count/persisting thread issue.
I'll add this to the to-do list. Not breaking anything too horribly, but it could definitely use a fix.
The navigation bar will likely remain as is until we start implementing some navigation changes down the line. We're aware of this issue on small browsers and mobile device.
There's some other issues that have come up the past few days that are more pressing right now.
Also, I appreciate the enthusiasm, but could you try to condense similar information to one thread with replies in the future? You're taking over the forum topic page :P
