Is it possible to make a rom hack (or something) so there is no framerules? So then top runners could compete to the individual frame for the whole run? Every turnaround and fast accell and everything else would matter.

Hi. Can somebody please point me to a spreadsheet or other documentation that lists the 8-4 frames....their times, their names, etc. Like how 44.427 is an "8-2". And apparently the IL best is "8-7" I think? Thanks!

What is the significance of the 11x category? Why not 10x or 12x? And this category seems ripe for a try from Kosmic or somewes or the other top runners, yes? If you ran 11 essentiallly flawless glitchless back-to-back, what kind of time are we looking at?

And while I'm posting, what's more impressive....the sub-5 one-hand, or the blindfolded completion (and under 15)?

Sorry if dumb questions, please lock/delete/ban as appropriate. Thanks!

I hope @Kosmic or somebody can provide some insight here.

Kosmic just beat the Glitchless record with a 5:03.716. His old record was 5:04.099. If I'm doing the math right, that's 23 frames.

I think he was on the same framerule.....which means he would have beat 8-4 by 23 frames. Is that possible? I know the previous 8-4 was really bad, but this one has room for improvement too. And I compared the Mario positions when the timer goes to 310 just before the axe, and it doesn't LOOK like 23 frames difference, but maybe that's not a valid comparison.

Or am I wrong and he wasn't on the same framerule entering 8-4?

Thanks for any help!

I'm trying to represent how the top runs are being accomplished, distilling it down to a graphic.

<edit: image removed because google changed their url scheme>

(I sure hope that link works.)

I know there are some TAS things not shown, and some backward fast accel, etc. But I'm really just trying to show the human-doable things that have been incorporated...beyond the 10ish-years-ago classic "glitchless"...in order to save frame-rules.

Thoughts? Or things I'm missing? I'd love to add a "number of frames" for 8-4, kind of to make the story complete, but I don't have that info.

p.s. I'm new here, and don't know that this is thread-worthy, so please lock/delete/ban as appropriate, with my apologies in advance.

Hi. Brand new here. Apologies if this is the wrong spot. Please lock/delete/ban as appropriate, haha!

Is it possible to get a leaderboard and forum added for Golden Tee '99 arcade?

I started speedrunning it (well, one course) a few weeks ago, and finally got a reasonably fast run that I thought was worth posting:

I know it's not a great time, and I'm sure others can crush it.....I'm just hoping to get others started doing this game, as I'd love to see what they can do. I couldn't find any "record" on this site, and only one 5-year-old youtube video of a 3-hole run.

I think there's a reasonable amount of strategy to be had, not to mention the inherent skill and decision-making required in a game that is slightly different every time you play.

Maybe there are too many versions of Golden Tee to make it worth it. I leave that to you to decide.

Thanks!
