Ah my apologizes it wasn't in the guides for LOW% so I assumed many people were not aware of it. But you do bring up something useful about the treasure chest moon. I will play around with that myself and see if and faster routes can be made.

There is a new easy consistent captureless first moon, it works on all versions of the game as of 1/8/18. I will provide a video later, but for now I will provide steps below for how to accomplish this:

1. Use the same method as the first moon skip to be able to get up the to platform with the odyssey.

2. Once up there, go to the position where the bridge would drop down onto. There is a hard edge where the ground switched to being a slope, rather than being smooth transition.

3. Once you find this position the odyssey to be on your left, so you are facing the water fall. On this hard edge, near what is the furthest point from the waterfall, there will be an invisible ceiling which will block your jump. Play around doing small jumps around this area until you find it.

4. Once you find this area simply start doing random ground pounds jumps around the area near this invisible ceiling. You will eventually clip through the ground and fall into the water.

5. From here you can do the original strat, or the easy strat I found. I will update this with a video later, showing both the hard strat and easy consistent strat

6. Find the "Invisible Odyssey" discussed in this video:

7. Triple jump off of it and cappy jump over the painting corridor

8. Once on the other side you can swim your way around the outside of the wall towards the "First Moon" rock.

9. At a certain point you will need to leave the wall and go underneath the ramp that leads from land to the water floor. By fast swimming underneath this ramp you will now be inside the "First Moon" rock

This is unprecedented, but is something I have thought about. You would have to record the run with a hand cam in order to prove you were doing everything. On a side note a single player 2p run would be very interesting to watch and play.

Right as you are doing the wall clipping inputs, you want to turn right on the analog stick. This will change Mario's angle as he clips in, making him move to the left of the loading zone missing it completely, and not triggering it. Then you can simply jump towards Moon 9, collect it, and head towards the loading zone for the Sphinx room.

This is an issue we should worry about now! Another game called Cuphead recently had all the main glitches patched out and they cleared the entire leaderboard in confusion about what to do.

We should come up with a different better strategy now, so if or when that happens we won't be in complete chaos here.

I would personally think having an have extra sub categories for before patch, with the current patch being the main run category. This would be similar to how Assists / No Assists currently work, with the only difference being you would have to select the patch you are playing on.
