Video evidence has been pretty standard across speedrunning communities for many years now. The quality of video doesn't need to be amazing so it isn't much of a barrier for most people (most people just use their smartphone or another camera to record the screen). You're obviously still able to speedrun without video evidence, it just won't be accepted onto the leaderboards.
You've just described All Royal Seeds. Obviously there are some other glitches in the game, but none are as game-breaking as the overworld skips
to get the goomba in the proper position, you want it to be in the top-left corner when you start 1-1. it'll end up in the top-right corner once you beat 1-4, allowing you to pass safely to 1-6 (but you might need to move around the square in an unoptimal way to avoid the goomba)
if you collect it during the level, yes, but you can't start with one
we're still planning on it yeah, not entirely sure what exactly the rules will be and when it'll happen but you can totally do a run and then submit once the leaderboard is made
we're working on some stuff, including figuring out individual world speedruns. stay tuned!
Any% rules specify that only one player can control the game (ie. no multiplayer) but it's a suggestion we've gotten many times and will continue to discuss. I can say pretty confidently that some form of multiplayer will exist at some point, but we'd like to set up other stuff first. You're always free to do some multiplayer runs beforehand though!
@YoKids you can totally do runs, we don't have immediate plans about what to do with the any% category as it is right now but it'll exist in some form for a while i'd say. doesn't make sense to wait for an update and this game probably won't get a "final update" for years.
to add onto romain, i'd like to mention that the recent runs tab can look deceptive. sometimes you might see "10 days ago" or something on there, but the actual queue has runs submitted 6 days ago, latest. the date on recent runs shows the date the run was performed, and so sometimes people submit runs they got a few days ago, which makes it look like runs were verified super late when that is not the case.
we've made a lot of progress with the queue over the weekend, and while we probably won't be completely up-to-date for a while since there are still lots of daily submissions, we should have more recent wrs soon.
no, but we're planning on adding adding a different category that will allow it
people have been doing it in the discord server, wr right now is 2:17
it's really hard to give actual answers to these questions since it depends a lot on factor that we don't know yet. if enough there is enough interest in a specific category after a while and there are a few runs to show for it, then categories can potentially be added
Yeah the thing is that point grinding is really boring and takes like 2 hours minimum. It’s the worst part of max% and idk if you would think that multiplayer should be allowed for it but if not it takes like 3 times as long so I don’t think anyone would play this
you can position a phone camera to record the screen, specifics about run requirements will be decided later but usually a timer is not required in the video
