As long as you play the a certain version of a cartridge on the same version of a console (NTSC cartridge on NTSC console, or PAL on PAL), There shouldn't be any problem with that.

Hi! Some glitches like egg barging and clockwork warping are patched in the Xbox version. Sadly there doesn't seem to be any good route for any% no DCW for the Xbox version, because very few runners have run the game on Xbox. There is however this run that is played on the PAL N64, which has the same glitches patched and has an outdated route, but that's all I could find.

If you want a better opinion, you should join the Discord and ask the community about it.

Hopefully my reply was somewhat useful :)

Hi! As the only mod and the only person to ever do a run of a game, The last samurai, I want this game to be removed. Since this game was added almost 2 years ago, this requires a full mod or an admin to remove. https://www.speedrun.com/The_Last_Samurai

I have never messed around with that one, due to the fact that it looks so inconsistent. I also think that the uses for that glitch would be so restricted, do to the fact that, in most cases, you want both levers to be activated.

Hey gonengazit !

There are not really any guides as to how to speedrun this game, so I'll try to describe some points that can save time overall.

If you want to learn the strats, I would say that the 1 player any% WR is probably the best way to learn them. Keep in mind that most of the skips save less than 5 seconds each, so if you find the shortcut routes too hard, you can always do the levels the intended way.

There is one skip however that you should learn, and it's the skip that happens at around 6:10 in the 1 player WR. It's not that hard to do, and it saves 30 seconds. The way this skip works is, by touching the wall just before the peak of your jump, you get a bit of extra height from your jump, making the skip possible.

As how the general movement goes, jumping up slopes (including levers/buttons) is faster, and going down the slopes makes you go faster. Sometimes you lose speed if you touch a ceiling as you are. Sometimes hitting the ceilings is useful if you want to cut down on the air time before being able to do another jump.

A cool mechanic with jumps is that, if you press the jump button in the air, you will jump on the first possible frame when landing on the ground.

Of course, using the same level route each time is also very useful, because you remember what button(s) to press at the beginning of each level more easily.

Hopefully these tips makes the learning of this game easier. Have fun !

Something that I'd like to point out is that DCW in Tooie also works with a cutscene watched on another file. For instance, in this video, the person uses a cutscene of when you enter a room instead of using the minigame replay (warping directly to the minigame softlocks the game if I recall correctly).

This method of storing a cutscene is allowed, though never used due to the fact that the mini game replay already provides enough useful cutscenes to warp almost anywhere in the game.

Btw, does anyone know how much time that saves ?

The main reason why emulators are banned is because the lag isn't well emulated, so you could, for example, beat very easily the N64 times by cutting minutes of lag only in the any% run.

All right everyone, this is a followup to my request to be a super mod of the Fireboy And Watergirl serie. All of my runs still haven't been approved. (They've been submitted a month ago.) The thread on the forum of the serie, the whisper and the PM that I sent to both of the moderators on Twitch haven't been answered.

ok, I sent a whisper on Twitch. I had already created a thread on the forum of the serie. I guess I'll wait for a week before asking again.

Hi guys,

Could someone add me as a super mod for the Fireboy and Watergirl series ? I am the only active runner of the games in the series, and I submitted 6-7 runs a month ago, but they still haven't been verified. I messaged both of the current super mod on Twitch, without any success.

Québecg0goTBC8 years ago

As the only speedrunner that seriously speedrun Fireboy and Watergirl games, can I be added as aa super moderator for the complete serie ? Thanks in advance for the answer !

Sorry for the late response, but here's my thoughts on that.

That could work, but I guess the runs would be hard to verify, as some tricks require to switch quickly between the 2 caracters. For example, to do the elevator skip in Fireboy and Water girl 2 (level 19) could be done by rapidly alternating between the 2 caracters, making it not worth it. Also, I'd say that it would make the game maybe too easy to speedrun (?) and a bit boring to watch. On the other side, some tricks may be discovered to make it more entertaining. I'm for the idea, because some people may enjoy it more than me.

I forgot to say that you do need to finish the level by opening the 2 doors in order to make it count. You can only skip the cutscene once the window with the continue button appears, otherwise the game doesn't consider that you finished the level and you have to do it again. You could do the same thing by refreshing the page, but of course that's slow.

It could save between 30 seconds and 2 minutes, it's hard to tell.

Hi,

I'd like to be a mod (or even a super mod) for the game called "Chibi Knight". I've suggested some changes in the forum of the game months ago. I got no answer since then. The mods of that game haven't been online for the last 4 weeks. Also, there are no ways to communicate with them. Could I become a super mod of that game ?

Hi !

I'm planning on running this game, and I would like to know if it would be possible to have to same categories as in the first game of the series ?

Thanks in advance !

Québecg0goTBC9 years ago

My recent 1P any% run got rejected because some of the levels were grey at the end of my run, because I got the rank F in them. Does that count as completing a level or do I have to get the green gems for those levels to count ?

Québecg0goTBC9 years ago

Hi !

I'd like to know how you can press the pause button with the keyboard. I feel like I'm missing really obvious, but I just can't find it.

Thanks in advance for the answer !

Hi !

I have suggestions and questions about the speedruns of this game.

First, why does the timer start when you talk to the first NPC in any% and glitchless ? You could easily skip the first spell, because you need to have a lot of XP for it to do more damage than the sword. Maybe we could change the timing to start the timing on the A press to start the game ?

Second, what about the "true 100%" of this game ? I know that there already a 100% category, but could there be a category where you level up everything to level 8 and get all the spells ?

Also, does the fact that you can press S during the boss fights to avoid taking hits count as a glitch ?

Thanks in advance for the answers !
