Yes, but you are not modifying the game or gameplay, just allowing yourself to play a different version of the game in a cheaper way. You aren't modding the software in anyway, just cutting a chunk of plastic out

Start with a game you know in and out, for me, that was SM64. It’s hard to get into a game you’ve never played before (why I’m like the only person ever to not run Celeste, although I’m thinking about it) but I’m in love with SM64, and Odyssey. Just do something you played when you were younger, and more of a casual gamer.

That does sound pretty painful lol

And I also hate RNG dependent games, in terms of level layout and such. I can do Pokémon style RNG (in which you are looking for certain objects or items) but when I have to adapt to completely new situations, it’s tough.

Thanks for the responses guys, more I think about it, the more I want to run one of them just for the heck of it. Probably street fighter

This is more of a parody of the common question “what are good games to start speedrunning” than a “what types of games aren’t good speed games”. I’m not looking for “visual novels or short, trivial, flash games” but rather games that you’ve seen or had a bad time with. Excessively long runs don’t count either because that’s something that isn’t feasible to 99.9% of the community.

Logitech K120, super basic, but I like it a lot. I spent all of my power up rewards points on entries for GameStop’s Razer giveaway for the hell of it, didn’t win lol

I’m okay with whatever, I’m just saying that it should be clear in the rules. 2 categories is okay with me

Connecticut, USAdrybloxman6 years ago

I noticed that WR doesn’t use the power-up, but the rules don’t state whether you can use it or not. For now I’ll run without, but I’m just curious.

Now that the problem has been solved, Cat Bird is a great mobile game for speed running, its a platformer. I just got into it, and it seems like it’s a somewhat straightforward game to optimize, because you can only move left and right in addition to jumping and hovering

Mutant mudds is on all of the consoles you mentioned, minus SNES. The mini has a fair amount of input lag, and you’d be better off emulating if you can find the roms. Shovel Knight takes skill, but I’d imagine it’s fun. Super Meat Boy is also a challenging one. VVVVVV is a jumpless platformer where you switch gravity, and there’s a glitch that’s apparently easy to learn.

Anybody reluctant about this purchase, get it now. The steam summer sale makes it literallly pocket change at 1.69 USD

It’s okay, a lot of people run it because of the nostalgia factor, cause they’ve known it for a long time

Ooh sounds exciting, there is a free one that I use on steam but it's not random... but definitely keep me posted on the forum about how it goes

Connecticut, USAdrybloxman7 years ago

It gives you cramps for long periods of time though

Connecticut, USAdrybloxman7 years ago

Depends what you’re playing and hand size, at least for my setup. If it doesn’t require L & R, then you can place it flat on table, use something to hold up your camera, and play with your fingertips

Okay I see. In that case, I haven’t personally tried out the apps previously mentioned, but try those

Connecticut, USAdrybloxman7 years ago

Fair enough, I haven’t tried it out personally, but I’ve seen mixed results, but that sounds about right

@YoniArousement Sorry, I was not aware of that. In that case, any of the apps mentioned above should work, and definitely join the discord
