Interesting idea. You could even embed users' src times pages if the site admins were ok with that, although that would only appeal to speedrunners. Some intergration between your site and this one would be cool as the only thing this site lacks is player profiling (other than the basics and times page).
"I'm just a kid you know, Just a little speedrunner, Was joined 2 months ago, So I Don't Know Much About Speedrunning" Nice meme.
I use Samsung Game Tools and have always had a decent result. If you are getting low bitrate vids then try changing the bitrate from auto to the highest possible (14 Mbps I think) in settings. There is a 4gb file size limit but that is not unusual. If you need any other tips on gameplay and speedrun recording and timing on mobile then the mobile speedrunning discord is at https://discord.gg/F2fJjUg
Do you mean you are already in the discord? What is your discord name?
@FlipRun Given your obvious interest in PK, you may be interested in joining the mobile speedrunning discord competition - see https://discord.gg/F2fJjUg for more details
@Ianwubby Is there a material difference in the performance of the different karts / characters? If so, and given that croako (?) cannot be unlocked without paying, is it possible to create a sub-category for free / paid? The reason I ask is that there is interest in running this game (probably 1-1 5 lap) in the Mobile Speedrunning Discord competition, but we only do free games.
Edit: You are welcome to the discord https://discord.gg/F2fJjUg
Hi! I've added to Guides a link to the notes I made a long long time ago but note the comments - I obviously rushed over the ending of the guide and it is really just a walkthrough - my run was not fast and I imagine the other runs contain route / strat improvements.
I've resigned my modship oxy, I might do some runs of this one eventually though - it's on my long long list!
@OldManGamer (from another old man gamer). The TKO mechanic is subject to a ton of RNG so the existing runs were all the product of grinding for a long time with the same start combo until getting the luck needed for an immediate TKO. I don't think it's a platform issue or your being off on your timing.
Godchueco mentioned the MSD (Mobile Speedrunning Discord). In that discord every two weeks or so we vote for a game/category to compete at for about a week, and chose PF (easy exhibition) the time before last. It was a good one as the dev joined the discord and ran through a lot of the coding with us and did some number-crunching etc. Would be great if you could join us at https://discord.gg/F2fJjUg
Timer starts when control of character gained, though that can be difficult to pinpoint
I had a close call in my Swordigo any% ( https://www.speedrun.com/Swordigo/run/z5o266jy @57m52s ) where I had been grinding for months to get sub-60 and was finally on track. The first phase of the final boss is the toughest part of the run and I got some bad luck. I got beaten down to half a heart twice before killing him by the skin of my teeth. The final phase of the boss involves glitching him to clip into the ground and die and can randomly take anywhere up to 4-5 minutes to get, but I got lucky and he did it first try, securing the sub-60.
Problem is that it was just a recorded (not-streamed) no commentary run so a bit boring from that perspective. Also, the game is relatively inactive so if you were looking for something popular then this wouldn't suit.
Over at the Mobile Speedrunning Discord we periodically choose a game / category to compete in for at least a week, and this time round we've chosen League of Evil Blue-Spy% (mobile version). This is just a heads up that there will be some runs incoming in that category and you guys are welcome to join in of course - https://discord.gg/F2fJjUg
Lords of the Fallen is perhaps shorter than you were looking for but really fun, and probably available on PS4 for ne much.
I would like to complain to the power of 4.
Good to hear you are coming back to the game! DEMO is the top guy to advise right now (he is in a league of his own) but for the moment the main things to remember are:
- Damaging enemies temporarily allows you to pass through them unharmed, so don't bother killing most things, just hit them once and walk through them;
- Strategise where you are going to accept taking damage, the optimal route for each level will usually mean finishing with only one heart;
- Practise sword swiping and shooting the magic bolt in quick combination, for quick kills on enemies.
If you draw a blank in your search, I (or someone else in the mobile speedrunning community) would be happy to recommend some mobile speedgames to you if you let us know your preferences. I know you said that they don't entertain you, but it can be easy to overlook some really credible titles because the mobile games market is so flooded. They are there though.
Also, I think DOS emulation is possible on Android, but I haven't tried it myself. I have tried running a fringe Amstrad title ('Tubaruba' - if any of the other 4 people that played it read this, hmu) on my phone using an emu app and it worked really well.
All exhibition runs currently require base stats, and the career mode run allows use of a fully levelled profile.
If anyone wanted to run exhibition using a levelled profile and/ or wanted to do a career run starting from base stats only, let me know and I can add the relevant sub-categories.
