that still doesnt answer the question though, it would be nice to view older notifications.
So, length & quality then? What does that mean, in regards to this game?
Although I think the game does definitely deserve a board, because it's not trivial or anything of the sort, I appreciate the response. I just would've liked to have been notified of this in the notification, does this sort of thing happen often?
I requested the game Neon Rider but it was rejected without a reason. I tried clicking on the notification, just redirected me to the main page. I'm fine with the game being rejected however I didn't get a reason provided and I'd appreciate being notified about that. For the record, this is what the notification said:
"Your game request of Neon Rider has been rejected. Reason:"
The legacy / CP subcategory will be removed, leaving CP as the only accepted version for it. Legacy runs will be archived.
These are the categories that came up during discussion. Please say something if you have a problem with them, or they'll be going into effect, sometime before the end of the week. Regular Categories Categories to remove/move - Small rule change; Any% rules will be changed to allow the timer to stop at the knockout screen of the devil or when you accept the devil's deal. It was always allowed, but we're making it explicit. - AB Menu Glitch will be removed. The regular runs will be moved to Any%, since they follow that ruleset. Suprisingly, most of those runs actually beat the current WR. The other runs will be archived. - Instead of having 100%/200%, we'd have a Full Clear category (name is WIP) where we'd have a difficulty subcategory seperating the two.
Consolidate All Bosses Glitchless into All Bosses. Any glitches, with the exception of menu glitch, that can be performed in the respective patch would be allowed.
- This consolidation would eliminate redundancies in our current category set and the difference between patches.
- It would be what we're operating under now, with the addition of minor glitches (which don't save but a few seconds each) and Beppi freeze
- Distinguishing the categories in this fashion essentially works the same as a division between Major Glitches and No Major Glitches, without the debate over what constitutes a glitch and whether it is major or minor
- The existing legacy glitchless runs will be merged with the glitched legacy runs, while the existing glitched current patch runs will be merged with the glitchless CP runs.
**Suggested categories**
- Simple 100% (jason)
- Simple Low% (me) (if made, all runs in One Gun - Peashooter will be moved to Low%, retiming)
These simple categories could provide a nice entry point to beginner runners who want to try cuphead and these categories out.
Category Extensions One Gun - Ban legacy - Remove Peashooter (too similar to Low%)
Runs in categories that will be banned will be archived under Miscellaneous. You won't be able to submit to these categories.
I'm not planning on running this game, but I'm just browsing and I noticed your leaderboard could be sorted a little better. First of all, you could rename both the main categories to remove the full game run part (so just Any% and 100%).
You could also move the world runs to the Level Leaderboard, which is what it's for. (rather than the miscellaneous boards)
Disclaimer; not gonna run the game, was just browsing and I noticed how you had the boards set up. Instead of having three different categories, consider having one category with 3 subcategories. If you can't figure that out, mod me so I can do it or reach out to me on discord.
It would be the same as if every one that didnt submit RTA instead put their IGT time but with 999 milliseconds. If that makes sense. The game has accurate IGT timing and no load screens, so it would make sense that way.
exactly, which is why i wanted more in depth sorting capabilities, at least
doesnt have to be straight SQL, which yeah would be a bad idea
it would show the top 5 people as shared 1st'
edit: and that's not particularly desirable
Fair enough, I'm not too involved with that stuff, thought I'd give it a shot.
Let's say in a game, the in game time gives you a time in seconds. So when you submit a run for the game, you submit that IGT. There's also an option to submit RTA. What I want the sorting to be is to sort the players by in game time, and then by RTA. If someone doesnt submit RTA, they dont get pushed to the bottom though. Something like this:
th | RTA | IGT ----+-------+----- 1st | 38.3 | 38 2nd | 38.4 | 38 3rd | 38.7 | 38 4th | N/A | 38 4th | N/A | 38 6th | 39.1 | 39 7th | 39.3 | 39 8th | 39.7 | 39 9th | N/A | 39 9th | N/A | 39 11th | 40.1 | 40
and etc. Is something like that possible?
Dunno how it would work, but instead of having all these separate options for things you could have a text field that allows you to write SQL code (or some dumbed-down version of it) so we can organise and sort the boards more to our will better. Can think of a few situations where this would be useful.
I dunno how secure it would be, but whatever works works, right?
Still though, I'd argue for more mods. That way one person doesn't have a monopoly over the entire board (whatever your intentions may be) and people don't have to wait multiple days if you forget or just aren't able to be active.
Mods are also there to do other things, such as create and manage rules, look after the community, work on the backend, etc... and if that discord takes off they'll need to work on that, too.
Personally, I moderate Cuphead and we have 6 mods. This is a bit excessive (game used to be number one, but we never got rid of mods because they're active), but 3 or 4 should work sufficiently. Also I wouldn't use the verifier role because they can't edit runs, meaning if a run is wrong they'd have to contact you directly.
I haven't started running yet (planning on it today or tomorrow) but I'm glad to pick up a new casual speedgame. :)
