I'll play @Output
Is there any way to mute the game however?
I only have a PS4. I have set it up to stream via Twitch for easy recording (simple enough to do within the PS4).
I speedrun Streets Of Rage 4 as it uses in-game time so I don't need to re-time it afterwards.
You can build up your stream using a PS4 mic, camera or there is a way to stream your PS4 via a PC. However just streaming from the PS4 itself will suffice.
Probably a good idea to delete the thread then, no?
Expanding on what Riekelt said, personally I find a combination of "competing against yourself" and "competing against the leaderboard" to be a good way to think of it.
Like, play your game. Just complete it as fast as you can. If you got a 55:29? Sweet, you're close to getting a sub 55. So submit the run, don't even care where it is on the board, and keep pushing yourself to get into the 54 mark.
Okay, so now you got a 54:47? Have a glance at the leaderboard. Wow, you're 7th, still a bit away from the top, but 6th place is only 54:39. You can do it! That is your aim now.
Awesome, some time has passed and now you own a 53:35. This puts you at 4th place? Maybe now is a good time to look at the WR holder's runs, and 2nd and 3rd place. Now you're competing against yourself, 3rd place and with an eye on the WR.
I dunno, that's kind of how I think of it. Just keep getting better :) but yes, submit that 100th place run OP!
With ShikenNuggets on this, really discourages newcomers.
Dyslexia exists you know. Typing ability, or even something as random as putting a space in a URL, should have no bearing on this being a welcoming space for speedrunners.
As you said Emerald, the question was already answered so why bother adding an extra (potentially rude) reply?
Sorry, it is confusing to me. I hope any runs I do in future go into the right place :/
Should we use the other leaderboard from now on, or both?
I am very glad to see TriPeaks has a leaderboard now :D
My playing time has been reduced dramatically since posting this, however I am closing in on 55 million now :O
I don't mean to presume, but guessing by your username you may be 10 or 11?
Perhaps you could ask an adult in real life (your parents or an older sibling/cousin?) to google "How to upload to Youtube" and help you in real life to record and upload your runs.
Henry Stickmin appears to be a PC game so that person could also google "How to screen capture with OBS" and help you record your run too if you are having difficulty.
iirc Dode has pulled off multiple thought-to-be "TAS only" tricks in Kaizo Mario speedruns too
I like the way The Elite have a kind of combined leaderboard of all the IL records for Goldeneye / Perfect Dark.
I tried to make a leaderboard for Streets Of Rage 4 but there was little interest in it so I haven't really maintained it. I'll probably update it every so often for my own entertainment.
The Donkey Kong Country 1 101% always annoyed me as a kid
I mean, I think the rules here are a little restrictive but... there's literally nothing stopping YOU from making ShortGameSpeedrun.com
I don't understand the thread? If you think it should exist - make it! :)
I remember when one of my World Records got beaten by a guy who casually took a phone call midway through his run.
Made me extra salty. The arrogance of not only beating my run, but fielding a call at the same time?!?!?!?!
(I joke - good on him for being that skillful lol)
His 120 star speedruns always entertained me
If I ever find a suitable game, I'm making an abhorrent% category one day ;)
What do you mean Andreus?
If you are talking about finding a balance between speedrunning and other life activities, just remember things like taking good care of yourself, getting enough sleep and eating healthily should take priority over everything
Hope you are feeling better soon
Do these forums always have to be a super serious black hole of fun?
Nice thread op, made me lol
