Yes you can use whatever controller you want (provided they dont give the runner an unfair advantage)

Timing ends on both circumstances yes, however it's easier to tell when time ends when someone doesn't star cancel, than when they do, and since it doesn't really matter, it's not hurting anyone taking it away.

Why are you asking exactly?

There are big differences. Most importantly, any physical attack against Moldorm (boomerang, bow, cane of somaria, sword etc.) will crash the game, this, coupled with the lower amount of lag on the emulator makes these non-comparable. To even begin to make them comparable would require a completely cycle accurate emulator.

If you submit a multiple person run, you have "Player 2" and "Player 3" spaces (and so on with the numbers) to enter their speedrun.com account. For their video, put it in the run description

Hey there PunchAnimation! Unfortunately the PAL cartridge is not very suitable for speedrunning this game (or any SNES game for that matter). PAL consoles run on 50 fps instead of 60 fps, which basically means your game is about 16% slower. Furthermore, the PAL version patched out most of the tricks that the NTSC-U version does have. So altogether you'd lose minutes compared to the NTSC cartridge.

Having said that, don't let that deter you from running the game. Many people run the game on emulator, which is completely fine. Many Europeans start on emulator, since they'd need to import an American/Japanese system and games to be able to run the games decently.

I'd recommend watching an earlier run from the current WR holder. It's easier to watch than to explain the glitch.

There are loads of CPPSs, mostly all with different versions of Club Penguin. However just choosing a new CPPS and making a new leaderboard wouldn't be a great idea, because that would leave two dead leaderboards (CP and CPR), and if that CPPS shut down then we'd have to do it again.

There is a new Club Penguin Speedrunning Client being developed which could be a suitable replacement but it's still quite buggy and incomplete.

There is some discussion on the Discord (though not as much as there maybe should be). Personally I am waiting for the CPSC to be developed further
