I decided to change some things on this leaderboard, if anyone disagrees with some changes, let me know!
-
Multiplayer subcategory I replaced the 1P - 2P - 3P subcategories with "Singleplayer" and "Multiplayer" as both 2P and 3P were always empty when selecting 3on3 and 2on2 respectively.
-
Hidden Finale I deleted the full-game categories of the Hidden Finales as they were empty and also were even more RNG dependend as sometimes you can't even get access to the Hidden Finales, no matter what you do. ILs are still up as normal.
-
Rewritten some rules Rules are still the same, just explained a bit better with the exception of ILs which now allow full-game runs (timing starts when pressing "Advance").
-
More categories Both Any% and 100% are still viable categories that would be added once someone does a run of it.
The leaderboard is currently a bit messy, why not use some subcategories instead? You can do this in "Edit Game", scroll down until you see "Extra variables/subcategories", click on "New variable" and enter a name ("Characters" as a example), click on the checkbox "Use as a subcategory". Click on "New Value" and enter the characters name ("Elyos" as a example), repeat this as often as you want. Now you should see some subcategories on the leaderboard. By doing this you need to edit your previous runs so they show up in the correct subcategory. Hope this helps!

@Fulgrima 's run currently isn't showing up on default, it only shows up when clicking on Filter > Racer > Any. As a mod it is possible to fix this by unchecking the "default" checkbox in the "Driver" variable under "Edit Game". Also, you might wanna set some rules up (Timing etc) so runners know when to time the run.
We decided to change the leaderboards a bit, if you disagree to some of these decisions, just comment and we may revert some changes. ^^
-Removing "Character" variable on fullgame leaderboards: It just results to choosing "both" anyway, its still avaible in ILs
- Remove Low% All Levels: Too many levels require you to get a mushroom, "Any%" and "Cannonless" are still avaible
- Removing the "All Starcoins & Secret Exit" subcategory in ILs, kinda pointless
- Move "All Levels" to misc, doesnt have any runs currently, we can move it back if theres interest in the category
Individual Worlds are still in misc because in ILs they would have the "Normal Exit" and "Secret Exit" subcategories because SRC doesnt allow adding subcategories only for a few IL levels, either all or one. If someone has a solution to this we could move the worlds to ILs.
I noticed that The Ultimate Choice has been added with 2 different difficulties, couldn't we add the difficulty as a subcategory so runners can choose which one they want to run?
When your inside the shell with a hammer suit, it sometimes happens that you jump out of your shell without pressing the A button, how can I do that? Need to somehow avoid doing that, just destroyed the platform skip in 8-2 and already caused a lot of trouble other times...
I know, it currently has a terrible IL layout! I just don't know how to create sub-categories exclusive to some IL levels ^^' If someone knows how, please contact me so I can change it.
You beat all Bosses in Peachs Castle on a already completed save file and at the end the harder Bowser fight on the moon.
Rules: Timing starts when you enter the first picture and ends when you shoot out of the electric wire in the escape sequence.
What about doing a full-game run without collecting any coins. Saving and loading different files is allowed as long as your only using files created in the same run
/edit: Could be any%, Dark Side, Darker Side and World Peace actually, maybe add these as sub-categories?
What about a "Minigame Island All Levels" category? You need to beat all Levels (third place is allowed).
And single World runs? Like only World 1 etc.
Some questions to existing categories: Do you need to be 3rd in any% or can you lose? You still advance when you lose and the level is blue after doing so. It would add a bit of strategy to this because you need to know where to lose. Also, exiting the minigame counts as lose, right?
Last question: I currently don't have a 3DS Capture Card, Emulator is the only way to play this so is it allowed to do runs on a Emulator? It got some graphic glitches so you can't see what the enemies or you are doing but I still managed to beat Minigame Island any% so it does work. Here's a example (take a look at Leaf Leap):
Why do we need in-game time? Currently you need to get all Bonus Objective to get a WR, imo the only thing you should do in speedruns is being fast.
Why isn't there a Toad Shuffle category where you need to play through all world? The only categories are single worlds.
I just noticed that the WR of Retro Tracks (200cc - No Items) fake is. He started on the Lightning Cup, went to the Egg Cup and at the end back to the actual Retro Tracks.
There are harder versions of all bosses you can always fight against so a Boss Rush would make sense imo.
Here are all locations in case someone forgot them: In the Mushroom Kingdom there are harder refights of most "normal" bosses, the broodals are on the Dark Side, the mother (?) of these is on the Moon in the cave before the final and Bowser is on the Moon (even the harder version of him).
I know that Basketball and Hockey doesn't make sense as categories because theyre count-down based but I think Sports Mix would work. I know it's heavily luck based what sport you get (because Dodgeball and Volleyball are way faster) but especially Dodgeball is already heavily luck based if the CPUs catch the ball, if they pass it etc.
After you clear a cup you got the chance to take hidden paths, you could add a "Hidden Finale"/"Star Road" option (the game tells you if it's the Hidden Finale/Star Road or not).
