It doesn't matter how fast or slow your time is, you are always allowed to submit it as long as it follows the rules.

"IGT" refers to the ingame time, the time the game displays after a race. For individual level submissions, only use IGT.

Now when doing full game runs (like Amateur Circuit), "IGT" refers to the combined total of all the track times the game shows you. "Time" refers to the total play time of your run, as displayed by an external timer like LiveSplit.

I hope I was able to help. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions. You are also welcome to join our Discord server that we have linked on this leaderboard.

To add to what goofbrush said, I just think that 100% isn't particularly interesting under these conditions. The appeal of the category precisely is the fact that you have to switch between different characters, even without skips or upgrades. If you want to see specific characters having to go through everything, All Tracks NG+ with one character is the best choice, since in that category, you can use any character you want, not only the ones available at the start of a savefile.

First person is the fastest. It improves the framerate and a better framerate means you get more stable physics on average. The most obvious way to tell the difference is by the average jump height you get and how often you will get those random jumps. Remember, air time is bad in this game.

In case you're wondering why you sometimes see people switch back to third person for a moment: That is done to have a better chance at clearing a gap with a jump, sometimes low jumps are actually not ideal.

I just don't want the actual main content to lose any horizontal space to the side column. And I don't want that column to be present at all on user pages, these should be all about the runs.

I visit the frontpage regularly to look through the latest runs. That can be a lot of fun, I have found many interesting runs that way. I do check the news when they come out, but they are not the reason I visit the frontpage. Yes, I also dislike the embedded stream on the frontpage, I have been hiding it ever since it was put there. If the side column stays the way it is, I will do the same thing and use browser extensions to get rid of it and restore the main content to its original size. And if I would want to check for news, I could always use the dropdown menu on the top navigation.

This is very bad. Not only did they completely ignore the criticism that the content of the front page is squeezed by the massive news section, they forced it onto the user pages. At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if they planned to do the same thing to the game pages next. Just give it up with forcing this news section down our throats, it can be a small column to the side of the front page like it used to be.

The username thing is weird, why would you go and restrict them if they weren't in the past?

I'm really starting to get worried about the future of this site.

With the news section taking up so much horizontal space, the main content is way too squeezed and hard to read. I don't like this layout at all.

It is known that the 2 player mode can be abused to go faster, this is why we ban it from runs.

I'm not a web developer, that's true, if more experienced people say that adding score is harder than it seems, I can accept that.

But I can not accept the claim that "most people don't want SRcom to contain highscores" and therefore it shouldn't be implemented. First off, is this truly a majority? I'm not sure what you would get when doing a poll, especially if you ask the question in the right way ("Should communities be able to have highscore leaderboards?" instead of "Should SRcom support highscore tracking?"). This brings me to the second and most important point: Even if a majority does not want highscore leaderboards to be a thing on SRcom, insisting on not providing this option comes off as a very shitty attitude towards every community who does want it. The solution is simple: Don't like highscore leaderboards as a community? Don't have them! But don't try to take them from others.

@ShikenNuggets You said it yourself, there aren't any good alternatives for score tracking, so SRcom should implement this feature as quickly as possible. I can't imagine this being a very complex task.

Why not? Things have changed, no reason to not clean up the site.

Congrats on getting that time! You should join the Discord server that is linked on this leaderboard, new runners are always welcome.

It is very unfortunate that this run uses ingame cheats, we saw no other choice but to reject it. We have always banned the use of ingame cheats (with the one exception of "time trial bonus" to make 100 points ILs a realistic option), since there are cheats that directly make things faster ("handbrake power") and it's a lot easier to just ban all of them from the beginning instead of individually. Additionally, it is very likely that even purely cosmetic cheats can have an effect on lag and therefore the physics of the game, based on what we learned about the game over the years. This definitely needs to be investigated further.

Compared to 1.0, Shindou has less lag overall and you can have a ghost for time trial. For ingame time, the lag doesn't make a difference. This means that you can directly compete against Shindou in time trial using 1.0, but not in RTA.

Keep in mind that PC is by far the best version of this game. The controls allow you to boost more efficiently and you get the best framerate. Buy the GOG version if you want the best release there is.

But what can I say, I only ever ran this game on N64. It's my favorite console and I happened to own that version as a kid :D

Switzerlandandypanther4 years ago

Keep in mind that we already have quite a few categories, some of them with barely any runs. Again, I'm open for new categories, but only if I can be sure that they won't be empty, so you know what to do ;)

I highly recommend you join our Discord channel, we are always happy to help out new runners.

Any% is the same as beating Galactic Circuit, we just call it any% because it happens to be the circuit that triggers the credits.

Beating the Invitational Circuit on a new file is too close to 100% to be worth a separate category. It could work as an NG+ thing, though, adding individual NG+ Circuit RTA is something that has been discussed before and I would be open for it if there is enough demand.

Just wanted to say that I really like how you implemented the new feature to enlarge embedded videos. It's not the default option because that would be terrible for moderating purposes, but still easily accessible in case you want to use it. It also looks really good in general.

It's been a while since the last time I was able to load the games page without almost freezing my browser, good job there.

I can't say the same for replacing a system with pages with the "load more" design. I absolutely hate that practice on any site, I hope you rethink that one.

Small text, low contrast, the classic combination that makes websites less comfortable to use. When will this trend ever die?

There are so many features still missing from this site, after years of requests. I hope you take a look at some of them, now that you got done replacing a perfectly fine design with a worse one.
