Yeah, the route shouldn't differ for NG+ any as far as what missions you'd do, but the forces you use in NG+ may vary. Playing on play #1 should help with consistency on that front as well, and to avoid any potential extra battles.

It's just faster in general and more accessible. Though there are a few areas where Dreamcast is the best version.
