After getting through this submission again, holy shit i've never seen the game run like that for anyone else. Just look at how cutscenes get loaded in. Is that some weird version?

you'd be able to have your reset script click it for you

I just know that I've fought for example Henry Morgan or Blackbeard in roughly the same conditions (same ship, same crew count) and had them sometimes charge and sometimes stall. Couldnt see any pattern

What would be very useful for that category is knowing how the cannonfight enemy AI works, as sometimes when you initiate a battle, the enemy ship tries to avoid you for as long as they can, peppering you with cannons, and other times they instantly charge you to initiate a fencing battle. So far it seems pretty random.

Interesting concept to skip the last lost city. To be honest, i think this category should just be 100%, there's not much point not to get the last city. So IMO the rules should be changed to imply that you need to not only get all fame points but also fully complete the "career track" screen, just to make the category more "complete". As far as the current ruleset goes though, just getting the fame is enough.

In Pirate Hunter specifically though, it's pretty much never going to be usable for the pirates themselves, as in my hours of running the category i don't think i ever had an opportunity to fight a notorious pirate right as they leave their pirate haven. The way the game loads objects combined with their behaviour script seems to pretty much guarantee that as soon as their haven gets into view, they will instantly leave it and you're just forced to chase them over open sea.

Both me and Stede noticed that behaviour randomly while grinding other categories, i never tried to make it consistent though. The way i wanted to use it is to instantly get an indian war canoe, as you can force it to spawn at exactly the same time as you exit a settlement, and the ship is the fastest in the game

Thats crazy, so its just pure coincidence that categories such as BW, England% and France% all start in cities that spawn cotton sails

I don't understand how exactly this works, but it seems you can either spam the attack, or just hold it, while initiating the fight normally. And sometimes you just skip the initial sword clash animation entirely, attacking the guard before the screen even fully fades in. This could save like 1.5 seconds on every single fight in the run if made consistent??

Gonna make a post for discussion and maybe even consistent implementation of the instant fight glitch

Honestly i wouldn't mind a change in the ruleset - IMO it would be best to not only include milliseconds, but also change the timer start from character creation to actually gaining control of the ship (after the black loading screen)

Yet another time we've got a real case for adding milliseconds to the leaderboard

I'd like to point out that this run is 22.867 far as i'm concerned (calculated via a frame counter). Which means you're slightly underestimating your own runs

I didn't even know so many pirates can spawn around the Havana region, that's a crazy run!

RussiaZelassin1 year ago

I am very sorry about that, let me fix it and you can reverify. I thought i published it.

RussiaZelassin1 year ago

i think it might not be about the cannonballs reaching the city, but just how long you've been spamming the shoot button for? Hard to say, but i've noticed that too, sometimes you go at it so fast and still they end up attacking

This might be the first well and truly unbeatable run in the game, can probably only tie it. Impressive

RussiaZelassin1 year ago

to leave room for sub 50 obviously

inspired by Stedehounder to come back to this - and the game blesses me with a very short grind. I know it's just trying to bait me into playing Wife% with the promise of good RNG, but I don't trust it one bit. Mendoza always laughs last
