Every emulator that is approved by SRL applies to speedrun.com aswell for the most part, unless the specific communities have different rules.

Personally, I've always used FCEUX. I fully recommend it!

Sorry for the long delay in post. Currently I've only added Genesis/Mega Drive and SNES as sub categories for the runs, if your run is not there please edit the run itself from your profile with the appropriate sub category based on the platform, I've tried to add some of the runs that I remembered back into here. I considered not adding them yet because I am unsure how different the other more obscure ones are or if runs for those platforms exist.

If there's more differences between the release platforms (SNES/Genesis/Amiga/MS-DOS/GBA), please DM me the details and I'll add more categories.

Splitting could work, however if we do it, IMO it would end up being emu runs and hardware runs, which will be a little harsh. I ran this game using FCEUX 2.2.1 with an appropriate controller, following close to the way it would be on a the real hardware. Should my run be boxed away in a different category?

  • One solution would be to follow the guideline of SRL and force players to only use FCEUX for NES emulation. That can be controversial in itself with the current WR holder, assuming most of their practice is on mobile emulators.
  • Another solution would be to give an extra field when submitting and ask for the controller type: Keyboard, Controller, Touch, etc, and that way people can determine with what type of input that time was achieved. Doesn't solve much sadly.
  • And the other one is as you guys suggested, to split emulators and real hardware and double our categories on the page. Now I'm not sure how many people own this game for the NES, but it's pretty clear a little more than 50% of the runs on here are emu runs.

What do you guys think?

Hey there.

Me and a friend are trying to run coop IT, but I found out that usually for me (the host) the spot in Lower War-Camp is quite inconsistent, managing to get it once and then the trick not working for quite a while, before it starts again.

Is there any factor that influences it? I tried player distance and even alt tabbing before trying and both seemed ineffective.

Any tips are welcome, thanks.

EDIT: Seems that relogging(rehosting) might help, gonna have to test it a bit more.

Hey guys.

Is there any software that generates a bingo sheet, much like the ALLP bingo and SM bingo ones on SRL. I can't seem to find one.

Thanks.

Hey there! I was wondering if there's a way to remove the list of followed games from the main page, so that it displays latest runs only (the same way it would if you don't follow any games)

I know, it's not a very important thing, but I don't like seeing runs at the top of the main page that could be quite old (I follow some really low-community games), but I do love the hyperlink that gets added when you follow a game in the Games dropdown.

Covered. Added the category. No rules on it though. Feel free to modify the rules there c:

I took the liberty to add some rules, at the suggestion of a user on Twitter.

If anyone wants any modification to the current timing/difficulty/gear rules, it's all good. Ghost/Panther not required for Any%.

One issue I am trying to solve is segmented runs. Keep them: Yay or nay?

Did some changes to the theme, I hope you guys don't mind. :> I made a custom logo thingy based on the font in the pause menu. Hopefully you guys like it :>

The CT rules don't necessarily apply here, frizbe. I'll set the rules here for you guys, but considering CT has no calibration and you can run as soon as you start the first mission at the lighthouse, that will have to remain unchanged. :I

fat_monk, the bunch of levels you haven't heard before are, as specified, coop only levels. Also chirs3, there's already a 100% category and a 100% expert category.

Well, at a first playthrough, I figured out the only real differences in the run are the following:

  1. The game seems to run a bit faster and handle the lag just a tiny bit better, but I need a second opinion on that.
  2. The acceleration (not the top speed) of the tank on Area 6 is A LOT bigger. It can save a few milliseconds when starting off.
  3. You can't suicide in Area 4 when wanting to go to Area 1, you would have to carefully plan your deaths in Area 6 then use the ladder to slowly take 2 health pallets till you die.
  4. Some boss death animations are faster.
  5. The ending boss death animations is MASSIVELY cut.
  6. Left is replaced with Rest (irrelevant)

So... when will we add Helena the 3rd as a playable game? Kappa b

Since Dugongue refused to post any timing rules, I took the liberty to post a fixed set of rules. That set rules can be seen in my run on this game. Why this?

  1. Start on blackscreen because it eliminates the RNG on Mickey's audio.
  2. End on animation since that's technically the last input you place, your controller not being functional after that.

Hello. I recently have been bothered by the lack of timing rules on the "Mickey's Safari in Letterland" page. The first WR holder didn't have a running timer and it was quite hard to see when timing started, hence why now everyone on the page seems to use a different timing (time at cutscene, or time upon entering last letter. Start at input or start at blackout).

I tried to contact the moderator Dugongue, but he failed to respond to my messages on both Twitter and Twitch.TV. So, I'm wondering if I can request mod to finally post a fixed timing rule so all runners would follow that specific rule, because this seems like a last resort to fix chaos. X3

Thanks.

Hello, people!

I want to ask a simple question about the ROM hack submission on games. Do the hacks have to be official hacks (been on cartridge form) or can we submit hacks made by people (lots of which can be found at romhacking.net)?

Thanks :3

Hey guys. I wanna ask, is it possible to add existing games from the website on a new series or do I have to completely create a new game?

If I have a new run in the same category, with the same parameters (partner), just that the date and time (obviously) is change, do I delete my old run and submit a new one, or just edit the old one?
