Lotus III game musics are famous and game is made on 4 systems. (Amiga, MSDOS, Sega Genesis, Atari ST).
Here are the game musics from all systems :
Amiga :
Amiga CD32:
Atari ST :
MSDOS (Sound Blaster) :
MSDOS (Roland MT-32) :
MSDOS (PC Speaker) :
Sega Genesis :
I made first Amiga speedrun and submitted. MSDOS version and Amiga version seems same/similar in some track details, but they are totally different on speedrunning perspective. So, it was a good idea to seperate them.
By the way, for Amiga Championship runs we need to use IGT (Sum of each race IGT) same as Lotus III MSDOS version. For Amiga Arcade/Timed runs, we need to use RTA (Real Time), same as Lotus III Genesis version, since Livesplit&Autosplitter doesn't exist for Amiga.
It is assumed to have exact same speedrun category for Amiga and MSDOS version of Lotus III. Because track codes are the same and game looks mostly the same.
Until today (8th August 2023) only MSDOS and Genesis speedruns are exist and they are on seperate categories.
Since noone have speedrun Lotus III in Amiga until today, it is not possible to say that they both (Amiga and MSDOS) will share the same speedrun category.
This only can be clear out after someone speedruns the game in Amiga and submits.
@VelCheran Thank you. I will probably get there. But i don't know when
Congrats to new WR 👏👏👏 Very tough timing 👍👍👍👍
Hi. I always fascinated quality of early 90s MSDOS games and still it is. So, my first run on speedrun is on Lotus III The Ultimate Challenge : Easy Championship Turbo track : https://www.speedrun.com/lotus3/run/yjd9nqgy
Thank you. I believe you can make better timing.
Thank you. Making practice on individual levels on RNG is only way to make good run on championship. Actually, it is not so hard as it seems for this track. There is certain path to make perfect run. To overtake cars, you need many practices, for sure. For every overtake problem, there is clear solution. There are harder tracks. Dealing with RNG is very hard for those tracks for which i am trying to develop strategy. I still couldn't develop.
I want to make comparision between Sega Genesis and DOS/Amiga version tracks. Here is it : Here are the track codes for individual tracks : DOS/Amiga : https://www.speedrun.com/lotus3/guide/gvyk8 Sega Genesis : https://www.speedrun.com/lotus3/guide/88gey
Code comparision result :
For Championship (Flag) ; Easy level : Only level difficulties are different than DOS version. Sega Genesis version levels are harder. In my opinion, this is such terrible idea. This makes people give up the game quickly. Medium & Hard Level : Codes are the same with DOS version.
For Arcade (Chronometer) : Easy Level : There are some small similarities but mostly different. Medium & Hard Levels : Codes are the same with DOS version.
Sega Genesis version is faster around %18 for the same track code.. When the track codes same, there are only few similarities between platforms. Game timing, abstacles and other things are mostly different. Sega Genesis version is mostly hard to complete for the same track.
@WinterThunder I have noticed some similarities, too. Here are the differences : For Championship ; Easy level : Only level difficulties are different than DOS version. Sega Genesis version levels are harder. In my opinion, it's not a good idea. This makes people give up the game quickly. Medium & Hard Levels : Codes are the same with DOS version. For Arcade (Time Trial) : Easy Level : There are some small similarities but mostly different. Medium & Hard Levels : Codes are the same with DOS version. Note : I got Sega Genesis track codes directly from Game ROM file. So, Codes should be correct.
I have checked also championship level runs. There is "in game time" in championship runs, as we have in DOS version. You can create championship category based on IGT timing.
@Canadian_Gamer If you enter a code or not, every track has it's own code. Track is created always through RECS system with originated from this code. This means; In your run, every track has codes, too. You see these codes in the screen just before every race starts. These codes are called "Easy Arcade (Time Trial)" track codes as category and you can find them in "individual race codes for Sega Genesis" guide in Guides section.
I have added "individual race codes for Sega Genesis" guide to Guides section. Anyone who interested, can use it. @Canadian_Gamer if you want to add something special for genesis version, you can add or you can ask me to do it. I will do it gladly.
Congrats. Hard to complete. I believe this version is more Lotus 3 than Lotus 2
Very good for first time. My first time was much worst
I am new to speedrunning and don't have much time. So, i decided to speedrun with Lotus III which was one of my favorite games in 90s. As an old MSDOS user, it seemed logical to me to start with this game.
