I think it's a good idea to allow use of passwords that can lead to levels you already accessed in your run. In addition, that can add another chance for beginners to finish runs. Maybe a list of all passwords on a guide may be useful, either for training or for 100% runs if we add this rule.

In fact, I just realised taht you can get these stuck gold coins by jumping a little over the spike, the coin is taken without the spike taking action. So, I think it isn't a problem anymore and you have to reset if you die by failing to take the coin over the spike on Tops 2.

Tell me what you think about this (it would be great to have a clear rule for this category to know which run can be verified or not), I'll check it out soon ^^

Hi everyone, While training on a 100% run, I noticed that on Tops of Terror 2, the gold coins from the enemies nearby the exit can spawn on top of the spikes, so you cannot pickup them (or you are instant killed) and then can't go to the Bonus Room at the end of the level. idk what to do with this because it can be a bit disappointing, after ± 25/30 min of running that you have to reset because of a gold coin spawning on a spike. Do we accept going to the next level without the bonusroom or does it mean resetting the run entirely ? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hello, I'm back to speedrunning (and I see the thread only now). As far as I see OBS don't change Happyland speed on DOS version (but if you have a bad CPU maybe you can experience some lags :/) and it seems to be the same game speed for all runs (as far as I know, for all my runs on my both PCs and Dezu's Any% WR I experienced this). I really experienced the game speed difference between PC and DOS versions too, the PC version was about 1.05x faster imo. For HappyTimer I agree with Dezu, it's a very great tool for single-level speedrunning, but when you're playing a full game run, the timer can't measure the time between two levels. (that's why I decided to speedrun only DOS categories by now).

Hello, I'm renewing my two years old moderator appliance, now I want to spend more time developing the speedrun part of the game. Now Dezu123 is afk for several months, and that I'll promote the game to some people, I think that Maltaran on his own may not be able to manage the potential people that may be interested in Happyland Xmas speedrun. Although, I'm not going to validate my own runs (I think that I can't judge correctly my own actions) and I let other moderators do that for me.

Thank you in advance for your reply, and thank you for all the interest you have on this game, I'm happy to see that I'm not alone enjoying Happyland Adventures even now.

I think that's a good idea to change it to Any% without losing any heart (that may be interesting in some levels and it increases difficulty of Any%). I'll soon make a guide for Happyland Xmas beginners (explaining mechanics like sliding and taking speed with slopes) and another with the ways I take in long levels to reduce my time (like in Mines 2/3, Tops 3 in Any%), at least for Any% and 100%. Thank you for the fast answer, I'm always happy to discuss with you all.

Hi everyone, I'm back here and I'm going to try and get some runs in every category on this game, but I don't understand the rules of Deathless%. Is that an Any% where you can't lose any heart or something similar ? Idk, if you can tell me guys how to achieve this category it would be good. Thannk you all ^^

And now I made some tests on the 1.3 version, and there is a slightly speed boost when you launch it on Linux (with Wine) than on Windows 10. Maybe I'll try launching it with the compatibility mode of Win10 and see if it changes game speed.

I remembered this was 2 years ago but I can't find an 1.3.1 version anymore (I thought I had it on my forrmer PC), now I play on 1.3 version and I don't care about the 1.3.1 anymore. I'll look for it but I can't ensure I will find it.

So are there specific rules about this Deathless% category ? I thought of making the run without taking any damage (whether it is caused by mobs or spikes).

So I've seen the thread on Happyland Original section, and I'm asking me the question : Is it a problem of Happyland version ? Because I've seen that 1.3.1 runs normally instead of 1.3 running faster. So why not making 2 categories for Xmas : Any% 1.3 and Any% 1.3.1, and same for 100% maybe. IDK if this is a good idea, but I post it in case of ^^'

Ok for my part I understand it, so I'll try with 1.3.1 version you uploaded, that's not accelerated at all. I'll train to beat you x)

Hi, I'm actually posting my candidature to be a moderator on the Happyland Xmas Edition category. I really enjoy this game (it was my first video game ^^') and I love speedrunning this game. I'm serious and I'm active. I can speak a quite good English (very good in France xD), French, Spanish and Italian.

Aquitaine, FranceWirax6 years ago

Finally I added a timer with Kdenlive (that is working on Linux ^^') and I'll post my run when the render finishes.

Aquitaine, FranceWirax6 years ago

But I always have like 229 / 230 on 1st level, so game is not faster at all x)

Aquitaine, FranceWirax6 years ago

I have a problem with my actual speedrun. I don't know how to put a chronometer / timer on my speedrun video, and I think this would be a problem when verifying if my run is okay. Other information, I'm on Linux (Ubuntu 16.04), and my PC can't afford editing softwares. Thanks for your future replies.

I don't understand how can the game be faster, and how can we see it. It's quite a big problem on Happyland Adventures speedruns.
