And just to make sure to not confuse anyone: The video you upload should still be the FULL run, with the loads in place, otherwise you could just splice a run together and nobody would ever know. I can always check myself if I feel like the time without loads isn't correct, by timing the loads on a full video myself.

Okay, so, I guess this should also be here: I just realized my facecam covers up the "loading" message on the bottom left in my WR. So I guess I'll have to beat it with my facecam on the other side xD Yeah, so don't cover up the bottom left corner of your screen. Also, I guess you don't necessarily need to update your run to have a time without loads until your next submitted run either.

So, especially with the latest run submitted being on PS4, and just in general with the differences in load times between systems being a huge impact over all, I decided to add time (without loads) to the leaderboards, so we can accurately compare our runs across platforms. Like, think somebody does this run on PS5 via backwards compatibility when it's released, and just gets to play with practically zero loads, that really can't work out for us.

So, since there is no autosplitter that would have load time removal for this game, and on top a console player wouldn't be able to use that anyway, here is how we'll time our loads: You basically use any video editing software (there are really good free ones, like Davinci Resolve) and cut your run in it to start on the frame you start the timer, and then remove all loading screens in the run. You do this by finding the first frame that has the "loading" icon on the bottom left of the screen, and cutting out the part from that frame until the frame the loading icon disappears. In the end you should end up with a video that only has actual game time, from time start to timer stop, without loads. You then look how long exactly the video is. This is the time you submit for the "without loads" field.

I will do this for my run, and I'd ask you to also edit your runs to have the time without loads in it. You can edit your run by clicking the 3 dots under the video on your entry, and selecting "edit run". I'll have to re-verify them, probably, but that shouldn't be a problem. I hope this makes runs a bit more comparable to each other.

So, as I just reviewed the first entry to be made for the full game, I guess it's in the interest of consistency that the end point of the run is clear:

As Letsplaytowin's run does the end split as the hand of the main character falls down in the end cutscene next to the life-support pod, I think we can agree to make that the exact end spot.

I'm looking forward to pick this run up again.

Oh, and as the game is now available on PS4 and Xbox One as well, I'd suggest adding those to the platforms. I can't really edit anything about the page, with just the verifier role.

Edit: Thanks for the super mod role, I think everything should be up to date and clear now.

This is known to happen, but nobody has ever managed to get a consistent setup for it to happen, mainly cause nobody knows what triggers it. I personally have never gotten it, and only know of 2 other people who have, as far as I know once each.

Oh, OK, easy mistake to make.

Hello? Are you still alive snupsplus? I've been waiting for 17 days for my WR to get confirmed. If you don't have the time to moderate this board, please appoint someone else. I've been modding on 2 other games for a while, so I'd be fine to help out on verifications. It's just that half a month is a bit long of a waiting time for a verification of a run that doesn't even take an hour.

AustriaWWEdeadman5 years ago

Hey,

After finally getting time to run this, I have two suggestions for these leaderboards:

Not having a field for milliseconds on the times is a bit weird. I mean, right now it doesn't really matter, since there's no runs that are within the same second, but having that field would generally be something I'd expect to be in.

Category naming should probably be just Any%, and not "End credits reached". Like, that's what Any% means. Reach the end as fast as possible.

AustriaWWEdeadman6 years ago

Okay, cool. Then I'll go ahead and say I'll change the names of the categories to RTA and in-game instead of with and without loads, and do a bit of work on the rules, maybe, so they're more straight forward. (At least in my opinion)

The categories can stay that way, for a ll I care otherwise.

AustriaWWEdeadman6 years ago

So, one thing though, this means that in-game time runs have to be no reset, right? Just cause I did a True 100% run today, and I realized I can't really time it for in-game, cause that would completely disregard the restarts I did on 2 of the operations.

AustriaWWEdeadman6 years ago

You know, it's fine, I can actually still post my runs in both categories, cause all in-game timers are visible long enough to easily pause the video to check. At least on my Bob 100% PB. Perks of recording with a capture card, I guess.

AustriaWWEdeadman6 years ago

I mean, yeah, it does eliminate loads, but quite honestly I don't think I'd have much of a problem to cut an actual segmented run to look like it was single segment on the video. Not saying I'd do that, but there is kinda a lot of potential for people doing that...

AustriaWWEdeadman6 years ago

Oh, so not the classic version of actually timing the loads, but by going with the in-game timer of each surgery? Well, that would eliminate menuing from the equation completely. I mean, that's essentially almost a segmented run.

Okay, so, this isn't exactly how Dishonored does that, as in they have the with and without loads thing where we have real time and game time, but I guess I'll go ahead and accept it this way too. So basically we'll have to submit every run twice, once with and if we get around to timing loads on it, a second time for without loads, but I guess that's fine. I'll go ahead and re-submit my PB on Bob 100%. I'll submit the other 3 categories on the weekend. Also, I'll probably time my loads then too.

AustriaWWEdeadman6 years ago

Well, all we really need to do is time the loads, and subtract them from the real time. It would be a lot easier on PC, seeing as Live Split can automatically remove load times. I'd say we count the time that the blood bag loading bar is on screen as load, and just remove the total time that blood bag is seen from the RTA time to get in-game time. It's a bit tedious to manually time your loads, that's why I hadn't brought it up yet.

Anyway, for the leaderboards you'd keep the real time as is, and just submit the time without loads on in-game with it. Or you just call those two columns "With loads" and "without loads" like the Dishonored leaderboards do. Either way, you don't need to necessarily remove the current runs, just make the boards order the runs by the time without loads, and just leave the current ones in there without that field filled. We can edit the runs to add the time without loads, after all. Just need to time them first.

AustriaWWEdeadman6 years ago

Yo, can we set a convention for whether we use the in-game or the realt time field in submitting? Cause I just beat the WRs in the 3 IL Heart categoreis, and it would rank me second, cause I have it in the in-game field, while you, Armageddon, have it in the real time field.

I mean, we use in-game time for the ILs. We use real time for the other runs...

Hell yeah to both those categories.

The card I use is an Elgato HD60 pro, the one you put in your PC, I got mine for 160€ about a year ago. It's currently even more expensive though. 177€ on Amazon here, 180$ on the US Amazon. The old one I had before, the Elgato Game Capture HD, which is a USB device, is still like 150$ on the US Amazon.

There are some cheaper capture cards, between 60 and 80 bucks, but I have no idea if they're any good.
