I'm not good with words and I'll keep this short.
I originally started this leaderboard on a whim, however I did not anticipate that I actually don't have the time nor energy to actually manage a leaderboard and verify runs (especially considering this game has very long runs!). Since I'm not fulfilling mod duty, I believe it's better that I leave this position so that I no longer feel guilt (!).
Huge thanks for Soaral who offered to help moderate this leaderboard and verify runs.
I don't think I want to do this. This will make the end game grind a whole lot more grindy, and it's not fun.
I don't even have a good route myself lol :-(
这种情况只能按照视频的时间为准,除非能明确认定视频中有重复帧等明显不存在于游戏过程中的时间。
Hi Liehez,
I timed the loading spinner on my device and it's one second. Rules have been updated.
Hmm, I have an idea. Fastest time to make a certain number of fully correct sandwiches (and feed it to the guy on the left). There can be two categories, no upgrades (on a fresh save file) or all upgrades (on a completed save file).
edit: tried to get 24 sandwiches without upgrades, got 2:34 on mobile. This practically means i gotta bring the goal down numbers down, probably to 12, so that a reasonable below-average runner can get within 2:30 on PC, so that they can start the run on day 2 without having to burn many days.
Will consider implementing that next weekend. I will need to investigate the ad delay timer though.
Hi Blueeyes!
Speedrun.com doesn't seem to support score-based leaderboards, only time-based ones (though it's possible to create a reversed time leaderboard, i.e. whoever has the longest time wins, usually for some kind of survival mode).
Also, the length of a day increases as you play, so there is no way such a category can accomodate different day lengths of different players.
I believe a potential workaround is:
- non-paid players have to play with their internet disabled, or restrict the game's access to the internet. This prevents forced ads from displaying, and non-paid players would have to use this trick to speedrun with current rules anyway.
- Ad rewards are accepted. This creates an unfair advantage for paid players, namely being able to skipping the few seconds of loading spinner.
- The moderator subtracts the loading spinner time from the speedrun timer, removing the advantage. This requires that we test out how many seconds we should subtract for each ad view, but I believe it would be a constant number once we figure it out.
While this still adds work for the verifier, it doesn't add too much.
To address your concerns:
We can unify the versions of the game, we can choose a version without any ads. The rules have been changed to allow you to receive the bonus coins at the end of each day.
Only the versions directly available from Google Play store and App Store should be acceptable. Providing pirated or cracked clients should only be used as a last resort when no other reasonable option is available. In addition, iOS players (and Harmony OS players, once Huawei does its thing) are not easily able to sideload apps onto their device.
Adjust the timing so that the time spent watching the ad is not counted in the overall timing. This is fair to some players who need to watch ads.
Doing this would require extra work on the verifier. They will need to re-time every single segment of the run, and this can easily add up to 70-ish segments. In addition, having to watch 70 ads for a player isn't fun, I think.
If I accidentally click on the reward and claim it, do I have to start all over again?
The rationale is the same. If we allow your run to continue after you claim the reward, we (and you) will have to keep track of this money and make sure that your balance does not go below a certain amount, and you exceed the target amount of money at the end of the run. Again, increased workload for the verifier.
under Happyzombie33's 6h15m02 run's video (not the SRC submission), someone asked why they are playing in English (while their native language is Chinese), and they said SRC only has JP and EN categories. I wonder if other languages are allowed in speedruns.
why did they select DS for the platform? it doesn't have options for switch?
Re Demomute: I think I saw something that has something to do with a loadless timer. If the time taken to restart the game is removed by a loadless timer, then one might use the web shop and restart the game with little time added to the loadless timer. Again, I'm not familiar with the speedrun route, and I'm not sure if there is any unscripted shopping needs that might take advantage of the web shop.
Re FreshRigi: the point to ban web shop is to future proof. Once the web shop eventually closes down, any runners that run the game after that point will have a disadvantage on the leaderboard.
I'm not familiar with the community nor RDR2 speedrunning, so my opinion might be nonsense
It looks like R* has a website ( http://wheelerrawson.com/ ) where you can purchase items for the in-game characters, and it works for both story and online. (Purchases for online are sent to post office as if purchased through catalog, and happens instantly. Purchases for story will be directly added to your inventory, and happens when you re-open the game.)
GTA5 has a similar service (a smartphone app called iFruit that allows modification of in-game cars), and the GTA5 community decided to ban the use of this service (technically they banned everything that requires "an active internet connection) in case R* shuts down the service in the future and cause future runners to potentially have a disadvantage.
In the current RDR2 rules, I don't see a clause explicitly banning the use of online services - should they be banned?
edit: in case anyone wants to argue "it doesn't give advantage in runs anyway", GTA5's iFruit also doesn't give a speedrun advantage, but they banned it regardless.
It's completely normal. The next step would be to drag the bag and fill the baskets with frozen fries.
If you instead want the machine that automatically fills a basket with fries, login with a manager account (For the dump on archive.org by Nick Robinson, the 482500 account is a manager account), then go to MGR Mode -> Store Layout, and turn the 3rd option to ON, then click the bottom middle button to save.
Level-5-Statue% (Mondstadt) Level-5-Statue% (Liyue) (or replace 5 with some other number, preferably one with a corresponding in-game achievement? I'm not sure about what achievements there are exactly) (And actually many in-game achievements can be used as a run objective, like X chests, X seelies, X cooking recipes etc. Heck you can even do X achievements)
MapUnlock% (Mondstadt, minus Stormterror) MapUnlock% (Mondstadt and Liyue, minus Stormterror) (Activate all Statues to reveal map areas. Waypoints don't matter.)
Maggot% (Reach world border and have Paimon kindly tell you to turn back) (Sorry for the wrong-language meme. Paimon's "How about we explore the area ahead of us later" line reads "前方的区域以后再来探索吧" in Chinese, and "区域" (qū yù, "area") kinda sounds like "蛆" (qū, "maggot"), so in Chinese communities the out of bound voice is jokingly called "Maggot ahead".)
