Couldn't tell you right now. I upgraded both obs and livesplit and I guess something broke as I can't get livesplit to stay on top of the screen during a recording now. Will look into that later. But the livesplit definitely starts and splits on its own.
Hey, I've not used an autosplitter before. What do you do with the 1nsane.asl file?
Edit: think I got it to work, at first glance seems to work. :)
I would gladly help and be a rival to anyone with the interest of running one of these 3 games:
(very)Highspeed combat/racing game: "Rollcage Redux" (remade for modern computers) https://www.speedrun.com/rollcage
And its sequel: "Rollcage Extreme" (also remade) https://www.speedrun.com/rollcage_stage_ii
And the widely regarded as the last good duke nukem game: "Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project" https://www.speedrun.com/duke_nukem_manhattan_project
Even if this post is seen 10 years down the line, I'll gladly support anyone to run these games and push the times as low as they can possibly go.
Hey!
I speedrun a game called "Rollcage Stage 2" and the game has a decent chunk of loading times in it after each level change. The loading times can vary a lot depending on the machine you are running it on. I want to make the speedrun less reliant on hardware so I'm looking for solutions to this issue, but so far have come up short. I would feel silly if it turned out that there was an easy solution and I just never bothered to ask.
Note: I have zero skill in programming of any sort so something like making an autosplitter for the game is out of the question for me.
Changed it from normal speed campaign to neo speed campaign. Overall sweet run. ^^
Hey, I'd recommend you jump into the rollcage fandiscord server if you want to chat, play multiplayer, since that's where most of us hang out. Discord server
As for how I skip races so fast? - I just tend to mash the enter button. There's no need to navigate the menus since the first option is always "next" or "race". Unless you lose a tournament, then default option would be to replay the same tournament instead of the next one. But losing a tournament and then continuing on would invalidate the run to begin with. Sure, I can share splits. Splits
@Kinoruu Well 2 things. Firstly I'm not sure it's even possible to add subcategories to a IL leaderboard or at least I have no idea how to do it. As far as I know it only works with the full game leaderboard but I could be wrong. Secondly if a way to implement it would be found out, I'm not sure an addition that big would do any good as about half the tracks currently already stand empty. I think you might be the only one interested in driving something like that.
For a game like Race Driver: Grid with a playerbase as small as it is, I believe it's better to stick to regular fastest laps and fast game playthroughs.
I think gt1, gt2 and prestige are a bit too similar in handling already to the fastest cars in the game and would remain largely empty as IL columns. If someone else also showed interest in driving those then could perhaps add them. Pro Muscle is unique enough that I have no problem adding it now. Although if in half a years time it has only a run or 2, then I don't really see a point in keeping it around and will move the few runs to "free class" and remove the column.
Quality over quantity. Or this site would quickly start to resemble score hosting sites such as cyberscore.me.uk and video-games-records.com, where it's encouraged to spam as many achievements as possible to get high up on the site and game leaderboards. There it's of higher value to post 10 casual runs over a single highly skilled run, at least according to the game/site leaderboards.
If you edit the theme of a game, there's an options to put an image as a banner. I couldn't figure out where the banner for a game shows up on this site.
Not a complaint, just looking to hear from people. Is it just me or has the message “site is under a lot of pressure” been coming up a lot more often recently?
Hey, it's been long overdue but Grid finally has a discord server!
Do you mean slipstreaming? If you can make use of it, you are welcome to use it.
Well, I expected there to be a discord channel for Duke Nukem speedrunning somewhere but apparently there really isn't one. At least as far as I could see. Maybe I'm just bad at looking and someone can correct me.
I made a discord channel, although with the community being this small, there probably won't be much activity. But hey, I'll answer and help anyone with anything they need and maybe post random stuff. Here's the link: https://discord.gg/ypQMrNPzNt I'll also add it to the speedrun page.
Having checked through the game, I found that the only tracks that were not possible to be driven with specific vehicle categories were the Japanese uphill/downhill mountain races. The can only be driven with "Pro Tuned" vehicles and "Muscle Cars". So I added a N/A with a time of 0.001ms to those runs in IL.
I definitely think that the run should have sound if at all possible. You can always not record the music or listen directly from another source outside your PC. I remember there being a run or 2 in this leaderboard already without sound due to copyright, so it wouldn't be anything new. But for the sake of future run credibility and quality I would much advise for the runs to have proper game sounds. The runs will still be validated if you still insist on making runs that are silent.
As for the other thing, I'm aware that some tracks can't be driven with certain vehicles and I'll fix it by adding N/A on those squares once I find some time to figure out all the track-car combos that can't be done.
