For all the top runners, they all use an input display, yet I cant figure out how you do it. Can someone link me to a guide or something for NES input displays, thanks

So the rules say that mouse wheel is banned, and this is so you don't bind grab to it and make levitating very easy. I was wondering though could I bind zoom in and out to mouse wheel? I don't have it on PC yet, but once it's on Steam I'm going to get it. So I was just wondering if you bind it to zoom in and out would it still be banned

What's the difference? Is it loading times, because if it is how do you force digital to download to console and not on SD (1. My SD Card is low on space, and 2. Just in case of it being faster I want the fastest version.) Is the only way to force it to install is removing the SD card, and if it is will it damage the switch in any way? I've also noticed SD has 1.0 runs and as far as I'm aware the only way you can get 1.0 digital is with hacks, so is this a term for someone hacking their version to 1.0? I just want to know just in case if I buy the game physically.

I know that his 1:38 is legendary and all, but I thought the community voted to have remapping analog to digital banned. If I misunderstood someone please tell me, but if it was banned, why is cheese's run up

In the IL rules, it states "EverDrive-64 is allowed." and "2D analog inputs must be mapped to another 2D analog input (e.g. cannot map an angle on an analog stick to the L button on a GCC)". I was wondering, 1. As far as I'm aware the everdrive is an emulator and removes lag and, 2. Why is mapping for framewalk allowed on the full game leaderboards, but not on IL leaderboards. (I also don't want to start anything, but remapping on console shouldn't be allowed on any leaderboards)

Can I use a Game Shark Pro to play the NTSC-J version and show I have no codes at the start, or do I have to region mod my N64 like in this video

So I want to know how much time BFBB lose on X360. Also can anyone answer if you need an external or internal drive or both for the xbox 360 slim, Thanks.

So basically I now use a crt monitor (an Amiga 1080 or something) and it's really good, but I need an av splitter, but all the ones I found say they're not very good for recording. I only need a 1 in 2 out (and would prefer that) so what are the best ones? (Also I'm avoiding unpowered splitters, because 1. they look worse and 2. They generally have lots of input lag)

This may or may not be important but in the Resources tab, under "Video capture software" a program called GamerCap is listed. The site the program leads to has been removed and some spam site has taken over and most likely has a virus or something on it. I'm just bringing this up so if some person who's not very tech-savvy may think "Oh I'm a gamer and this has gamer in it, so It must be good." I know this isn't as important as other things, but I thought I'd mention this, (and also so that you don't get sued unless you want that?)

So basically I use the Lagrith Codec currently, but it takes up a lot of space, so I wanted to know if there is any Codec that doesn't slip frames, but still has decent quailty. I've noticed people use the AMV4 codec but, 1. It has a watermark in the corner and 2. I can't get it to work. So if anyone knows of a good codec please tell me

I've noticed that in the newer versions of the PAL versions (not ones with NA chips with a PAL region lock chip) Mario moves slightly faster and speeds up slightly faster. So why isn't this used in speedrunning? It is never mentioned in the rules this is disallowed so why isn't it used

AntarcticaUnbones4 years ago

So I wanted to know if this quality was good enough Also I'm directly using obs with a gv-usb 2 I can't use AmRecTV, because it doesn't work for some reason (I've followed every guide I could find)

Edit : Was On WiiVC (I only have a RetroDuo to play the original cart so I can't use that)

AntarcticaUnbones4 years ago

So basically my question is are things like the RetroDuo or RetroTrio+ or Retron5 Allowed or are you required to use original consoles. Also the RetroDuo/Trio use actual nes hardware while the retron5 uses emulation, but would you put both the consoles under emulation?

So basically what methods are legal to getting the JP Version to run on a US Wii. I already have a Wii with Priiloader Region Free Everything installed, but would I have to use AnyRegionChanger as I've heard that can damage your Wii

AntarcticaUnbones4 years ago

So Some accounts post "speedruns" when it's actually trying to get you to watch a video or something, so where would I report these people, because it's getting annoying having my notifications be of random people trying to get me to watch their video or something

AntarcticaUnbones4 years ago

So I've noticed ChaosPringle in his world record changes the time of his switch at the beginning and I've seen other runs do this, so why are people doing it and what purpose does it have

Edit : Also a lot of runners now have a -10 start instead of starting when pressing Start does this have to do with the timer change or is it for convenience or some other reason

So I have a main Celeste for speedrunning and a one with Everest for practice. So basically whenever I boot the Everest it always boots the original since that's the one in the Steam directory. My question is if possible how can I boot them both without having to replace the folder in steam. Also if doing this with the original unmodified version would it be allowed to play on that version. The only reason I'm asking this is because there are other steam games you can do this with (ex : Undertale)

I know this may seem dumb but, I just wanted to know. So basically is 1.0.0 even worth it anymore or is using 1.3.0 digital about the same or faster. I've noticed a lot of times using digital 1.3.0 vs Physical 1.0.0 but I've wondered which one is faster. Also how big of a difference is there between 1.3.0 Digital and 1.3.0 Physical.

So after seeing the wr I of course wanted to play this game. So I'm horrible so I just want to start off by doing ILs. My question is for the ILs can I use the Debug Mode. Also if allowed is there a way to get debug without using a modified settings file from everest?
