@dav3yb you have no idea what you are talking about, the claim that banning BLJs and MIPs clip in 70 star is "ridiculous" is just pure ignorance. I already explained earlier in this thread that 70 star would no longer have any reason to exist if you could do BLJs or use the MIPs clip. I won't repeat myself but like Alaris just stated above it certainly wouldn't be free even if it was allowed (which it never will be). This topic is not something that should be open to discussion, it's something either you have a understanding of, or you just don't understand the context on why 70 star speedruns exist.
When people run 70 star they are running it as "Any%" assuming BLJs and MIPs clip are not possible, so allowing them in the levels is ridiculous. If you BLJ at all, you are defeating 70 star's purpose. (read more on that in my previous post) Why on earth would you be wasting your time BLJing in levels when you can BLJ through doors? 70 star is run with the assumption that MIPs clip and BLJs do not exist. How fast can you beat super mario 64 without the use of BLJs and MIPs clip, that is the category's challenge.
There is no discussion here, if you were allowed to BLJ in 70 star the category would cease to have a reason to exist. The only reason you'd bother collecting 70 stars for a "speedrun" is if you could not skip the doors with MIPS or BLJs. The category of 70 star is actually just "Any% (No Major Glitches)" and anyone arguing for the addition of the ability to BLJ is very ignorant. Of course BLJs are allowed in 120 star because it's "100%" and you need to collect all 120 stars anyways. For 70 star it is different, it is not a "100%" category so you don't have any obligation to collect any amount of anything, your goal is "Any%" and with the ability of BLJs and MIPs, you do not require 70 stars to beat the game, you require much less. Slap on a "(No Major Glitches)" and there you go, 70 star has it's reason to exist.
there seems to be a lot of posts asking if code/hack/modification is alright and the answer is always no. any change regardless of how little or if it even matters is not allowed for runs and everyone should know this. all runs must be done on the original unaltered game.
the most basic capture card is like 50 bucks i doubt you can't afford that
A regular n64 controller is best. Hori Minipad's are best to switch to for throws but they are very expensive.
Submitting your runs with video evidence is common sense to most people... I guess they didn't think it was necessary to add that part in?
Emulators won't account for the lag console gets so it's not allowed. It may also differ from loading times, because it does load faster but I am uncertain it would effect single star timing but still, not allowed.
Everyone should stop wasting their time on this meaningless thread, it's over and done with.
In 70 star, the English version is faster by 1.95 seconds.
The japanese version is faster by 2.60 seconds in 120 star, on N64 and EMU.
Because people can abuse the old rules by using faster emulators, and if you can't do a full screen window capture with OBS it's time to download a new version. I made a full screen EMU layout in OBS in less than 60 seconds so...
The solution is to not use bad versions of OBS and get good.
Just do a window capture, and select "entire window" and resize.
