Aww, I really like backgrounds. Personalising the leaderboards was my favourite part of being a game mod - lots of people enjoyed how I did them (and no, they weren't close peers). A well customized leaderboard feels immersive.

Is it going to turn into the boring level of customization of modern youtube channels?

EDIT: I'll be honest, I'd rather much layout editing become a privilege than be taken away from everyone.

For example; a leaderboard mod submits a theme proposal (that they can preview), and it has to be verified by a site mod. If they are found to be trusted at making good custom themes, they gain the privilege and no longer need to be re-verified for every change.

Can I request these theme editing options? I can't achieve the effect I want with the current limitations. These should be simple enough to implement;

  1. Allow an option to scroll vertically instead of just horizontally
  2. Allow an option for the foreground to appear on both corners of the screen. For horizontal backgrounds, this would be the top and bottom. Vertical would be left and right.

And...-cough-

  1. Another foreground layer... (I doubt this will happen, but I can dream).

In a few games, there are sets of levels known as episodes, which are often only a part of the full game.

At the moment - when it comes to adding them, they are put the misc slot. They're a grey area between full-game and individual levels. They don't truly fit in either.

So what I propose is an optional Episode category that works similar akin to the individual levels one - having its own boards on the sidebar. Alternatively, it could be named anything, not just Episode. It should be fairly straightforward for moderators to transfer misc category entries to them too.

With how frequently speedrun.com chokes up due to too much traffic (even long after GDQ is over), I think it's time this place aims to purchase a bigger server.

So I thought of new donation incentives to help with it; Donate $10 or more to get access to even more name colors (which can also be used for gradients). Donate $15 or more to get access to animated colored names - palette cycling for example. And whatever else could be possible via coding powers, as long it isn't annoying to read.

Originally I thought of giving access to literally any color, but that could produce obnoxious names which are hard to see with the layouts color scheme.

I promise I will donate more once that happens :P.

Not many people run the PS4 version because it came long after the PC release. It's actually a fine patch to run on, but you can't use the trainer to practice some bits of levels conveniently.

I thought that at first, thought it's not the only glitch that can be utilised in speedruns. Zipping and checkpoint skipping are another. It's not that hard to zip by mistake either. Just dash into a solid enemy lodged near the ceiling.

EDIT: However (even though I'm not a mod) I only consider making categories when people actually want to run them. If a category doesn't exist, it doesn't mean you're not allowed to run it, it just means there's no records for it.

This counts...right?

Post TAS speedruns here. They must be the full game or a full level, in video form.

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is short and also relatively easy to learn. 30 minutes at most, but 25 mins if you wanna put a decent amount of effort into it (and sub 20 if you want to put a great amount of effort). There's also the side episodes which are at least twice as shorter, and have no records in some categories (The Secret Files, the shareware episode, the xmas episode).

Be considered a misc category, separate main category, or a separate game altogether?

Note that the xmas episode came out as two games, Holiday Hare 98 and Christmas Chronicles 99. The only gameplay "difference" (more like addition) between these two is that '99 has Lori, and '98 does not.

I vote it as being a misc or separate main category (as Xmas (character) Any%). It's only 3 levels long anyway.
