You must edit the capsules while in Goku's story, save, then quit the story. Then you're capsules will be changed for the next time you start the run. :)

Breakthrough only runs sound awesome!

The transformations in this game allow for so many unique and expressive combos, I would love to see that category implemented!

If there is any way to get loadless times in this game over having to have it be the reason why the games are separate it would be perfect for anyone who has a copy regardless of the version.

The download on SSD thing is incredibly stupid on 360 and PS3, so retiming the runs with some kind of load removal method would allow everyone to play on equal footing.

There should be something done with the leaderboards between ps2/Emulator and the HD collection ports.

The gameplay between them are only very slightly different with only the load times being the largest differentiation between the them.

The speedruns should be a reflection of the players execution and game knowledge, and the load times causing there to be 5-10 second timelosses with each load is not going to illustrate how good the run is. It only frustrates players who arn't able to obtain a 360/PS3 with an SSD, and doesn't add any incentive to learn the games mechanics more thoroughly.

Giving ps2/emulator their own category from PS3/360 or separating the vanilla/Greatest Hits versions from the HD collection are the most fair ways to to rank the Budokai 3 speedruns.

For Any% you have to start with New Game (Doesn't have to be a new save so you can equip any capsule you wish) on a character that has had their levels reset.

Capsules can be preset so you can just jump right into the run. (except Broly since he always has no capsules from a new game)

Any capsule can be used (I wish there was a breakthrough category :,( ), any story routes can be used, any button configuration, any difficulty can be used (we all use the easiest mode even though I wish there was a Z3 category)

The time starts from when you select the character to when you get the last hit on the last opponent of the selected characters' story.

The only difference between Any% and NG+ is that you can be any level (e.x. lvl 99) when you start the run.

P.s. PS2, 360, PS3 and Emulator Runs are all excepted, the Vanilla, Greatest Hits, and HD Collection Versions of the game are all excepted as well.

I was wondering if a Breakthrough Category could be added in Budokai 3, It would be cool to have an opportunity to use all the cool moves and combos in the game :)

I would recommend PCSX2.

Over the last couple of years it's been the most stable and reliable PS2 emulator around, and it's always being updated.

The one I'm currently using is a Developers Build version 15.0 found here: https://pcsx2.net/download/development.html

but a stable version works too.

You also want to make sure to set the renderer to Direct3D11, it's what I found to be the most stable when running the game (hardware allows you to increase the native graphic setting/software won't)

although even if you find another emulator that works for you as long as you aren't speeding up the emulation of the game (like 110% normal speed) or using cheats you'll be fine. :)
