You mean the rowboat yes? Whilst we dont have any challenges based around this, you are allowed to do any of our current runs with a rowboat as a challenge run. A great example is here: https://www.speedrun.com/sea_of_thieves/run/z18d3jgy

In this run moon and chicken use a rowboat to do an athena's voyage. It's a hard run where you only get one life and just remember where islands are, but they're all very impressive. You could even do this for one of the tall tale runs if you wanted.

ah i understand how it works, thats smart. When you said the coins are optional i did think this could be an okay run. But i think now that ive seen this clip, from the door opening it only would've taken 16 seconds to grab the chest there and it wouldn't result in much of a run, its a lot of work to get to whats literally one bit of RNG. That being said, its really cool to see you dont need the coins

but you have to find the 3 coins to solve the puzzle, better quality vaults have more floors above where the coins can be hidden

is there a way to ensure you get silver/stone or whatever keys? Because those who are higher level (most runners are pirate legend) will probably only get gold keys. Lower level keys create a smaller vault and therefore would make it easier to find the 3 vault coins. You cant even make a new character for this because vault quests unlock at level 25. Im just curious to know if its possible for a pirate legend to get a lower value key

so like, how fast can you get just the tributes chest out from opening it vs how fast to get all the treasure out? How would the mods know its all the treasure? And wouldnt it be a less than two minute run? Does time end when you drop it outside the vault, or when you walk it out the vault. Or does time start from starting the quest?

obviously theres no harm in doing it during a G&G event if you want a fast time, but we cant make a leaderboard for a run that can only be done during events, especially if we cant guarantee how frequent it will be. But you could do it during double xp, multiply your time by 2, and see if its a good enough time to try and replicate without double xp

Hey. I'm a moderator for sea of thieves and our supermod (Smoosh) has been inactive for 3 months and hasnt verified anything since early this year. The community has grown quite a bit and there are some particularly long (18+ hour) categories that people are now attempting. Im beginning to need to add a new mod/verifier but obviously cant. Ive messaged him through here over the months in the hopes he'd come online. I cant DM him on twitter. His youtube seems inactive and short of catching him live im not sure how to contact him through twitch. I don't necessarily want him removed. I'm just wondering if i could be made a supermod so i can make a trusted member of the community a verifier/mod.

Yeah alright cobble something together for now and we'll work on it there. It'd be good to have other places for discussion. Our forums get used a lot more than some games and I check discord way more frequently. Call it whatever like "Sea of Speed" or something and post the link here, I'll get the link up on the site.

I've considered doing this before but didn't make one for 2 reasons. 1: I wasn't sure there'd be any interest and 2: I don't know how to do that at all. But I mean now that someone's shown interest I'll look into how to make a discord server. Might not be very well done. Or if someone who knows what they're doing wants to make one then knock yourself out. I can edit the speedrun page to add a direct link to the discord.
