the way I see it, if you're doing a single episode no saves/loads run on crispy, there is really no reason for not recording a demo and going with the IGT as measured by crispy (or evem better dsda-doom).
does crispy even support hexen in the first place??
april fool's day was two days ago man
bit late to the thread but zero setup needed, just drag and drop the wad you want to play onto the gzdoom.exe.
keep in mind it's not vanilla friendly and therefore frowned upon by speedrunners. I recommend crispy-heretic sourceport
lol, I am going to do them single segment ))
once crispy implements the multiepisode demos (since my feature request has been visited by Fabian, I believe he is working on it already), there should be a discussion on separating categories for true RTA with save/loads and single-segment multiepisode demos, which could have ingame time allowed again (meaning ingame time for E1-E8)
possibly an entire glitchless category that would also exclude oob skips?
classic heretic is available on steam, as for Heretic 2 uhhh... you might have to consider alternative purchasing methods
yeah those all sound reasonable to me
I wonder if crispy heretic devs would be open to adding some speedrun friendly optional features like total time on intermission screens and an intermission screen at the end of any e8, instead of the story text
well, D'Sparil is an ass, and how much he teleports around can make or break the entire run. So best to start with E3 and reset if the fight goes bad. It would be nice to do the run in chronological order of the episodes, but things like that are often sacrificed for the sake of efficiency when speedrunning
I am looking into autosplitter programming and cheatengine; perhaps I might be able to write my own autosplitter
yeah I still need to quit the game entirely, confirm that the demo was saved and then run it again. need something comparable with "reset timer hotkey, reset recording hotkey, esc->enter->enter->enter"
Demos are good, but I wonder how to record them efficiently, that is, spend as little time as possible on each reset I make (I make lots of resets)
so maybe the autosplitter would be the option for me here
since no one else cares, does that mean there is an agreement among the mods?
I've seen runs where people had intermission screens with ingame time even in M8's and in episodes 4 and 5, but I couldn't find any patch that would claim to do that, probably because I didn't know what to search for exactly? Perhaps it would be useful if these were put in the resources section here, if something like that exists.
Anyway, IGT from all 8 levels would be my top preference, although even straight up RTA beats IGT7 for me.
