If you want to speedrun unity port - submit here https://www.speedrun.com/doom_unity
Been sick for past half-week, and was busy before. Have a lot of stuff to catch up on, so might be some delays again.
Hello everyone. Now that ~5 days have passed, we decided to open leaderboards as most of this seemed pretty straightforward + game is short enough for those interested to play it.
Rules didn't change much from Serious Sam 4, as it is essentially the same engine and all the memes are the same.
The only significant difference lies in ILs or loading levels from menu during a run. More about that read here - https://pastebin.com/rkzYBKgF
As with SS4 - currently there's no difficulty settings for any categories, if it becomes a necessity - we can discuss that in discord.
Have fun!
Difficulty subcategories is something to be added, sure. This leaderboard was created merely because there were like couple of people wanting to upload their runs. I'll be adding Individual levels, coop and so on when I get time. What DLCs are you talking about? Also what about demos? Like in-game demos? Or you mean just having individual levels? If you want to upload a demo to accompany your submission - go for it, just nobody has been doing that in any game so far, so we never bothered. This LB is kind of really low priority right now, but we'll get it sorted out eventually.
Problem with source port autosplitters was already discussed - new version releases - likely your autosplitter will break. Also in general, splits aren't used in doom as all runs are managed by igt. But feel free to put it to resources, just mark the crispy version correctly.
Currently busy with no free time to spend on this - will try to sort through the queue towards the weekend.
sorry, I've missed this question. My answer to delta touch submissions is generally: no. It has some weird behavior, while it should technically be vanilla-compatible. This LB is for pc and pc only as it tries to emulate classic doom leaderboards of dsda. If you want to run on mobile, better use bethesda port and submit to https://www.speedrun.com/doom_unity
As far as I'm aware there's an unofficial patch to fix that, but as far as I'm also aware - nobody has been really using it in old days, so I can't tell if it was allowed to submit demos recorded with that patch in mainstream doom community.
You can skip a line with sr50 (maybe even by simple sr40), but even if you dont, you can make it back with backwards sr50, given your angle is good.
This is pc only leaderboard for classic doom. If you use xbox arcade version or new version which is on unity, you submit to their respective leaderboard in doom series.
didn't notice anything tbh. maybe got slight wallruns or something but even then - I didn't really notice it.
Looks fine to me, no idea though why would you post on a forum instead of submitting a run.
Din't understand the question, but yes, in UV you play on Ultra-Violence.
If you browse full-game categories you'll find ITYTD. As for ILs - yes, only UV. Technically there should also be NM, but porting entirety of dsdarchive.org to speedrun.com is really not the goal here.
Speaking of custom wad series - that is exactly what we are trying to solve now as it doesn't help having all these wads and trying to maintain them. What we CAN do and are looking into doing though, is Doom Modification series, since those aren't accepted by dsda and generally can have whatever rules they can (things like Brutal Doom, Total Chaos and other total conversions).
Hello everyone. I was modded here after initial moderation "crew" of this leaderboard has been unmodded or just went away. As moderator for Doom series on srcom I'll be straight with you here: this leaderboard was created without my notice and there's no way it would've gone past me for few reasons:
- This is unofficial mod for doom (of which there are obvious thousands) and doesn't belong to speedrun.com due to being impossible to maintain consistent with dsdarchive.org (which still is and always was main speedrunning hub for doom).
- Main doom speedrunning hub is still dsda/doomworld, so creating alternative leaderboards elsewhere always poses simple question: "What is source of truth?" And due to this reason Ultimate Doom and Doom II on srcom have very limited amount of categories, for A ) simplicity; B ) consistency.
- While there are few other wads on srcom (like scythe), their support as of right now has ceased and their future is being discussed with website moderation crew.
It is important to note that creating one leaderboard means that others are allowed aswell, but in case of doom and general modifications - it just goes for too long and there's already a website that hosts all the runs with universal set of rules (which I can see breached here from simply reading this 3-line ruleset and resulting times). And having this inconsistency across multiple instances of these leaderboards is simply non-productive.
If you still want to run nuts.wad - have at it: https://dsdarchive.com/wads/nuts. Submissions to dsda happen through doomworld forums by posting your demo files in corresponding thread https://www.doomworld.com/forum/37-doom-speed-demos/ (note that non-WR submissions go into its own PB thread).
For a time being no runs will be accepted for this leaderboard until it is decided what to do with it. I'm open to your questions.
basic steam thread is bethesda unity port, runs for it are submitted here: https://www.speedrun.com/doom_unity
The sole reason why that (unity) leaderboard exists is because it is official release. It actually is pretty much vanilla, but some tweaks that those ports by bethesda have make them essentially TAS in classic doom landscape (mainly due to autosr50 and sr50 on turns). However if you manage to playback classic demo on them (and people did), they do work flawlessly, meaning it is unchanged game behavior. As to WHY in general they were created, then the answer is pretty simple. Original DOOMs on PC were dosbox + wads, and many casual players (actually most), would just launch and play and it was kind of ass. So bethesda went and made this free for all pc users, but also allowed console and mobile players to buy it and play, which is obviously for money, but is still nice. Not sure what this question has to do here, but here's your answer, hope it satisfies you.
Had that happen in second Chinatown Chiller level aswell :v)
