As it is right now, segmented runs are not allowed per standard SRC suggestions. It is generally difficult to verify and handle it from a rules basis. This is a really long speedrun so if there was a shorter category that could possibly be a more manageable option. Also you can run it of course yourself segmented, as it is just now it wouldn't be valid for the leaderboards. Have a good day!

Personally I wasn't behind any of these original rules and i am relatively uneducated on this specific game. I would say I agree on most everything, though if a banlist is obtainable within the game itself (without downloading/cheating and such) I would still have that banlist be selectable in some capacity, though I dunno the extent of options there to be honest.

Timing i find to be fine on the stone seal challenges, dunno how much you could really change there, atleast the "Success" end timing feels consistent with alot of the other games.

Yep! If you play on certain emulators, you will have stuff like people playing BEWDs plenty, though I havent heard of this being anti piracy as much as it being poor emulation (since the player also tends to win Blue-eyes from everyone when it has this issue, which seems contrary to the goal of stopping the player when pirating). Its a good idea to refer to the allowed emulators on the leaderboard, so far we haven't seen these kinda issues with those emulators. Good luck on the practice!

Sorry for taking a while to respond, its a fun idea but as they say above me, it has far too many potential issues, as well that we don't tend to make categories based on such variables and concepts such as having certain other YGO products. If you wanna run it with people, that's still possible, I just wouldn't expect a category based on it.

Other than that, hope the computer gets fixed soon and you enjoy running the game ^^

Both of the mods agree that "Super Game Boy 2" or SGB2 is allowed, so you are good on that.

We are not quite decided yet on SGB1(Super Game Boy 1) right now, we are talking about it.

We have heard what many of you have said, and are gonna start making changes on the current Yu-Gi-Oh! Game Boy Speedrunning Discord Server, by the end of the week we are hoping to be done with most of the changes. The resources for the games will be a work in progress and if you have any feedback on it, feel free to post about it in the server.

All the categories assume you play through the story missions in their normal intended order, even if you have unlocked them already. The categories can be done from a completed save file though, so they are effectively New Game+ish(For example, in Banlist/No Banlist you can use whatever cards you have available in your save file so long). In short, all categories can be done from a completed save file.

Goodday Teppich and my apologies for taking few days to respond. From the question I assume you mean to seperate JP language and english languages? If that is the question, I don't see much reason to do a split. Considering that all versions of the game that are not DM6 can switch languages, any person who runs the normal Stairway can switch to japanese for the text timesave(By pressing start on the Battle City map) Some folks that are not familiar with the language have suggested to learn ways to distinguish the cards instead of learning the japanese language, for anyone that wanna run with JP language.

I feel either is valid, but I have a preference for console being displayed first. Which seems to be a similar sentiment they have with Duelists of the Roses. Leaderboard consistency is nice.

I don't know quite the rules for this yet, and since there isn't any beforehand. I will try and add fitting rules fitting the run.

You know that's fair, imma fix it up a bit later today. The rules/game were added when i was not a mod yet, the rules could probably use some clarification and such.

While Any% might be long(As typical for many YGO speedruns). Many of the leaderboards have a history of empty Any% categories but having added various misc. Categories that for the most part, have few optimized runs and then are abandoned. While I do like the idea of various fun categories in games like this, I would wanna have it at the very least first backed up with Any% runs, or the trend might just continue(A good example is 7 Trials, where basically for a good time the only speedruns were the Konami Code ones). Also, as GenericMadScientist said, general policy is to have a proposed ruleset and a run to back up your category idea, in this case I would not bet on any of the mods adding the category unless you atleast had an Any% run first.

My apologies for the wait. We have talked about it and we are gonna make the changes to the leaderboards we have talked about, haven't quite gotten there yet myself because of my personal life being pretty busy lately and with other runs and leadeboards also having had questions lately it ended up slipping my mind for a while. Thank you for your patience so far and we are trying to fix it as soon as possible :)

Recently(Less than a day ago) while trying to add a new category on the leaderboard for Legacy of the Duelist, while changing settings on it(Specifically trying to remove a sub-category for that specific new added category, All Duelist Challenges). I have accidently removed the sub categories(No Banlist/Banlist/Story decks) for all the other main categories on the full-game leaderboard with the runs on them not visible anymore after i removed the subcategory for Story Decks. I was wondering if an admin could either roll it back or fix it in some other possible way. I can see the idea behind it, I will have the same standard as I generally have and want atleast a full run and a proposed ruleset before I will give my thumbs up on it getting added. I will agree as well that I find it probably better to have them as misc. As this game already has a ton of categories that are already pretty bare.in total runs. Otherwise I don't have any objections, just a few requirements before I would approve of adding them.

Since SRC wiped a few days of posts because of internet stuff im gonna try and repeat my answer from memory.

While I personally like the idea for the mod. There is alot of stuff that would be troublesome with having it allowed for speedruns. Mods could very well affect RNG and various other stuff like loading times(Alot of it can be really difficult to test as well), and if it were in anyway affected it wouldn't be allowed on the leaderboards. Also it would be an issue with having to test any new mods as soon they are requested, because of the big amount of LotD runs already submitted, far surpassing many of the other YGO speedruns. We would have to talk longer to verify runs just to check which modifications all the runs contain and also what would be affected within them.

I would use it for my own casual play though.

As you say, we don't really know much about Link Evolution yet, too early to make any clear decisions. It's gonna get adressed when we eventually get there. Millenium Duels is very much an early LotD and that game is its whole seperate page.

On the side note: To have any standards on the verifying, it will take a little while to get some of the runs verified, LotD is the biggest amount of YGO speedruns submitted by far and speaking for myself, I look through the runs in real time at the very least and sometimes check it out further. So sometimes runs can take a while to get done, but don't worry, we try to get the runs done as soon as possible. Appreciate the offer, we will ask for further assistance if we think its needed :)

At the time of submission, GCAH2006's time had a video of his run. At some point he decided to make most his videos private, thus why there is a broken link to YT. The run has been verified back then and seen by several people(Myself included) so we know it did exist at one point.

As it is right now, there hasn't been any particular demand or interest in such a category, in my opinion, if you could come up with a fitting ruleset and if we could see a run of this category, I would consider adding it. We don't wanna add too many categories that would be empty for the games(Which is not too uncommon on alot of YGO leaderboards). Unless anyone else has any objections? Thanks for the suggestion!
